Just saw the Today show that did a bit on different cruise ships "god mothers" and their christenings. It was a fun, interesting bit....turns out if the bottle of champagne doesn't break, the ship will have bad luck! (Just to let you know, Carnival has had something like 4 "failed" christenings...I was also disappointed to hear Julie Andrews is the god mother of a Carnival ship, what about Disney???) Plus, the god mother may cruise on that ship any time, for free, of course :wizard:

Anyway, they commented on how Tinker Bell was the god mother for the Wonder, good thing she's on the ship all the time! But who is the god mother of the Magic?

Thanks, Andy! It is good to read that it was kept in the Disney family!

I am assuming the bottle broke the first time! ::MickeyMo

I am betting she gets to sail anytime in the Roy Disney Suite for free :D

Oh, I'm sure!!!!! We all should be so lucky!!!!! LOL!!!!!

Andy...that was a great article with some great photos.....we were on the sailing that left after the VIP sailing that the author was on. The first "official" passenger sailing was July 30, 1998.

WOW!!! What a memory to have!!! We knew about it, but never thought we'd ever cruise on the Magic, or any ship for that matter. Now we are getting ready for our third MAGICal cruise in just 10 days on the special 4 day sailing of the Magic leaving January 4th!!!

When we were on board one of the CM's told us that Ariel was the Godmother of the Wonder. Anyone know for sure?

Sounds like this could be a trivia question. Guess we better pay attention, maybe for a big prize :)

The Today show said it was Tinker Bell, and I must believe everything Katie Couric says!!! ;) I actually attempted a lookup on it, and the only articles I found were prior to the inaugaration, and it said there would be a surprise in store regarding it. They did show footage on the today show of a trail of pixie dust flying around the ship just as the champagne was broken.....Did anyone see the pixie dust "live"?

On the picture of my daughter with the captain it states Tinkerbell as the Godmother of the Wonder.
