It's official... we have booked our next trip for
NEXT WEEK! I'm so excited! We are in a big financial poop but we decided we had to do it to escape the reality of it all. So, we figured it out and between an extra paycheck in April, tax refund, and saving every penny we can between now and May, we're doing it.

Details:

All Star Movies Resort
5/15 - 5/18
3/7 - 3/10
3 day Park Hopper

Cannot wait! It cannot get here fast enough. We need this so bad!

thats exactly how how i feel! my best friend and i took both our tax returns and split the cost on a trip for us and our kids, we all need a break from reality

Sometimes you just have to say...BUMP IT! Hubby threw Disney in my lap back in December of last year and I was thrilled! :cool1: We're doing okay financially, but the claim I put in along with the income tax refund REALLY made a difference!
Have a blast! :wizard:

We're only doing 3 short days ourselves. But to me...3 days in Disney is better than NO days in Disney! ::yes::

I shouldn't be going this year but...I am. :santa: I need a new car and DD starts college but it's just the 2 of us and I'm tired of sitting around on Christmas doing nothing and being bored!

Good for you!:thumbsup2 I hope you have a great time and take TONS of pics.

We are in the same boat. I'm going to school in sept which will cost alot, need a new laptop, getting a new shed built, should repave my driveway but I think that will be next years expense. We are using our tax return on a trip instead. I figure I need abit of fun before 2 years of studying!

I totally get you. I figured if we could pay off the cars and pay for their huge repair bills we could put aside money for a real family vacation. We needed a chance to get away to somewhere magical where we could put on Mickey ears and act carefree. If only for a few days. Enjoy your escape!

That's a well deserved trip for sure! We had already booked our upcoming trip in May before filing our taxes, but now that I know we're getting a good refund, even more money can go to the Mouse.

We are in the same boat. We should probably be spending our tax returns on paying off bills etc but we are going to Disney. We are going on a budget but we need the break. My husband was diagnosed with a rare giant cell tumor on his spine last summer and after a few surgeries and a month of radiation we are ready to get away! He is finally feeling better and there is no place better to celebrate than at WDW.:banana::banana:

I agree...sometimes you just need to toss everything else aside and just jump ahead. We are included in the we should really be spending this money on a long list of other things...but....family time is precious. My boy is already turning 10 and being very sick a few years ago really puts things in perspective. The windows will not fall out of the house before being replaced, the house isn't any colder because it has old siding, the bathub still holds water regardless of the fact that it could use some new tiles around it. Those things will always be there. Have a great time.

We have done the same thing the last 2 years. DH has been working temp for the fire dept while he goes to school full time so we really should do other things with tax money but after 2 of my best friends lost their husbands (38 & 41) last year I said SCR-- it!!
I am going to enjoy a little break every year with my children, creating wonderful memories and just reconnecting to each other after days and days of stress and racing from one thing to another....

We will always be in debt...but my kids will never know!!

I am with all of you! My kids will be 16 and 15 by October (when I am trying to talk DH into going back) and I only have a few more years before college makes it hard to swing family vacations. We have bills to pay (doesn't everyone??), but you only get a limited number of years to spend being "goofy" at Disney with your family.

good for you!!

I'm glad to see we aren't the only ones who put off paying off debt in favor of a wdw trip!! :)

we'll be down there the same time - getting in on the 11th and leaving the 18th, too!

It is the same here. I still haven't officially told my mother that we are going. *laughs*. She thinks I should take my tax return money and get a bigger house (rent), but you know what??? We can SURVIVE.. lol. We haven't gone on a family vacation since 2004!!!!!!! not ANYWHERE... In my opinion making memories with my kids, and enjoying life as much as I can while STILL paying all my bills is responsible!!!! I just could not take one more year without going to Disney. This will be our 4 year old daughters FIRST TIME and I almost cry just thinking about how great it will be.. :lovestruc

You guys make me feel much better too! Sometimes I feel guilty about the $$ we spend going to Disney, but we haven't been since 08, I paid some bills with our tax return, my hubby is going back to school with some of it, and the rest: DISNEY VACATION!!

You all are right, life is too short, the bills will always be there!

We are definitely doing Disney on a budget here! We are in the same boat, can't realllly afford it, but making it happen anyway! I was determined to make it happen this year, we've been wanting to go for a very long time and this will be our 1st trip!! :) I'm saving every cent I can for the trip!!!

You definately have to jump at the opportunity and just go for it if you can make it happen. Family time is just to precious. My father wanted to go on a family trip to Disney to see his Grandson on his first trip. Everyone was busy and we decided to delay it a year. My father then passed away suddenly a few months later. Enjoy the times you get together and make the best of what you can afford.

I am so in the same boat!! We have some bills we could pay off...but instead...I want to spend some time with my daughter in Disney!! I teach and have a stressful year...and am SO ready for this trip!! Life is too short to say no to Disney!!
