Who can wait it out longer? Disney or me?

Just got a 40% pin code email yesterday, and we booked Oct. Don't give up the fight yet. Nov dates were on it. I think yours is coming, A little pixie dust your way. pixiedust:

I work in reservations. The current discounts that are out are the only ones that will be offered for those time frames. The only times not covered by the current offers are June 13-Aug 15, and Oct 2-Dec 31. The general public offers expire on 2/13. And they keep sending advisories stating that there will be no more general public offers for the dates covered by these offers. I'm guessing that there will be some summer and winter offers offered, but spring and fall value season discounts will not, except in maybe the form of a PIN.

According to the WDW website only Spring discounts expire on Feb 13th. The late summer & early fall discounts are good until March 27th.

So perhaps the advisories are only referring to the covered Spring dates.

And while I don't doubt that you are getting these advisories, this is the first time I have ever heard of this. All other reports (over many years) have been that reservation agents don't know about discounts ahead of time. I mean no disrespect with this comment. Only stating what I have observed.

We know Disney wants to lessen discounts. But Sept is traditionally a very slow month. I believe that if bookings aren't what they expect, they'll go ahead with another discount. Free dining? Another % off promo? Those have been the "go to" offers for that time frame for at least the last 6- 7 years. And they have worked to fill rooms.

According to news reports, most vacation travelers don't plan trips 6 -12 months out anymore. I don't think Disney will sit on empty rooms without doing something to try & bring in bookings. And I think they'll have empty rooms in Sept. I have the 40% off PIN & there are all kinds of rooms available in Sept.

So I do believe there will be another promo for fall. No matter what they are telling reservations agents right now. What it will be is anyone's guess right now.

Do you think there will be AP discounts for July? I definitely prefer the Room Only Discounts for the deluxes.

I'm one who is refusing to book without a discount for December. A room discount is best for my family but free dining saves us a bunch as well now that DS eats like an adult.

I just figure that if Disney sees less bookings they will cough up the discounts.

I think they will offer free dining again. The prior offer was released in August of 2010 and expired in December 2010. If you look thru other threads on the DIS, a lot of people don't make the decision to go that far in advance. I also think that Disney will want to target the people getting their income tax refunds and free dining does bring in the crowds.

I plan to hold out and let the cards fall where they may.
I'm with you! If the resorts are booked-no FD;if not, more likely FD will be offered again.Certain times of the year are called Value Season for a reason-gotta fill the rooms somehow. We'll wait for FD,or skip this year;FD makes it a LOT more affordable when staying on-site.We'll go back to off-site when the Fantasyland expansion is done in 2013.With the new Animation Courtyard,or whatever it's called behind Pop,they'll have even more rooms to fill,so something is bound to be offered(not necessarily FD)to get us back on-site.Anyone who thinks otherwise must think the economy is better than it actually is.;)

I'm holding out because if the rooms are booked up, Disney will be tempted to not offer discounts. If the bookings aren't coming in, the discounts will. At least that's my opinion.

I agree - we aren't booking our vacation either, and we want to go this July. Last year I booked March 27th and got free dining for the end of July, 2010. It was the first time we used free dining and we loved it. So hopefully there will be some type of discount for this July. If we don't get either a room discount or free dining, we will not be able to go to Disney this year. But I really want to start planning so please Disney come out with more discounts for the summer months! :)

The current room only discounts from 4/28/11-6/14/11 and 8/14/11-10/1/11 that need to be reserved by March 27, 2011 don't even have any dates for July 2011. So because of that I am not sure if they will add Annual Pass rates for that month, however that's only a guess of mine and might not even be true.

I think that there will be AP discounts for July, but I think they will be announced the quarter before as usual. They haven't been announced yet to us either. I would look for them in March or April.

I'm with y'all and holding out for a really good deal, namely FD!:thumbsup2
There is just no way we can swing going to Disney this year unless FD is offered for October (my kids have fall break and makes it much easier to take them out of school for a week when they are in high school), because it saves us almost $1000!

I check my e-mails constantly to see if I have a pin, but no luck so far. I called Disney about a week ago to see if I had any pins and the really nice CM said that I was still really far from the dates that I had been looking at on the website and the pins for that time might come out closer to fall. :confused3

Good luck everyone!!
I am not sure how true that is because I received a 40% off pin for deluxe & deluxe villas, 35% off for moderate & value resorts. The pin is good for select dates until December of this year. Even though we go every year, I order a disney vacation planning dvd to ensure I get a pin. I don't know if that works but I get pins often. I also would call them all the time. I learned that some CM's do not check as good as others.

We just got the email version of the snail mail 40/35/30 PIN we received a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if they have noticed we haven't been since last February but we sure do get a lot of PINs. Because of my eye surgeries we have postponed any WDW trips. Now that my eyes seem to be in working order I am hoping for a FD offer for Thanksgiving. Or maybe we will do a cheapo Universal/Harry Potter trip.

I'm holding out for some sort of late July discount. :goodvibes I've gotten the current PIN (excluding summer dates) twice by email and once by snail mail. I hope they don't forget me if a summer PIN is released.

I will hold off booking a room until I have either a general public discount or best case senario, a PIN. I have made my ADRs though. :)

Me too. I've been emailed the same discount email over and over, with the summer excluded. Come on, send me something I can use!!! however, Disney out-waited me. I may have made the mistake of booking aleady, so why would they send me one now? However, because I am planning to stay Deluxe and have NO discount,I am really having Buyer's Remorse/ Reservation Remorse and dont want to do it with no discount....
