I'm rusty at this, its been years since we've even discussed a trip to WDW. I don't know that we'll actually pull the trigger this year, but I need good #s to present to DH. Here's what I have so far, so someone good at recent Disney math, if you see a blatant error, PLEASE tell me!

One thing to note: A La Carte pricing is using my 30% off pin, and buying tix through undercover tourist with mousesavers link. DD9 is staying 9 if we go that route, whereas if we change to package with 30% off room or go with Free DDP, dd will be changed to 10yo. Also, all tix are 7 day base tix.
1=A la carte with 30% off rooms
2=30% off room converted to pkg with QSDP
3=Free DDP (rack rate room + tix)

POP (2 rooms):
1. $971 (rooms) + 1285(tix) + 765 (cheap eats + mugs)= $3021
2. $971 (rooms) +1400(tix) + 912 (QSDP, rough math here)=$$3283
3. $2675 (3 Disney Adults in 1 room, 2 in the other)

POR (river view is all thats avail for 30% off pin so I used that for everything)
1. $940 (room) + 1285 (tix) + 765 (cheap eats + mugs)= $2990
2. $940 (room) + 1400 (tix) + 912 (QSDP) = $3252
3. $2717

BC
1. $1669 (room) + 1285 (tix) + 765 (cheap eats + mug)= $3719
2. $1669 (room) + 1400 (tix) + 912 (QSDP) = $3981
3. $3792

Am I missing anything big? For cheap eats, I did 2 cs meals per day @ $10 each, + 5 mugs with an extra $100 for arrival eve and departure day food.

Now that only 5 of us are going, we can finally afford a mod I think. In fact Free DDP at POR is almost same price as 2 rms at POP. We've always stuck to values, so we'd like to branch out. Looks like BC is over $1000 more. Are any places where 5 can sleep cheaper than BC but bigger than POR?

You could rent dvc points for a 1 br at old key west. :lovestruc That is our favorite. Also you could try fort wilderness cabins. We do por with 5 often and that works well for us. We love that resort as well.

You should call and get a rate at okw with the pin also. With the 1 br you willalso get a full kitchen. Such a blessing for breakfasts.

i did okw as well, but for 5 we had to get a 1 br villa. All 3 ways were $4000+. I would definitely put my foot down if our price before transportation was $4000! Great suggetion though

What are your dates. Have you considered renting points? I could check how many you would need for a 1br.

Dates are 8/17-8/23. I hope. Sort of. (I like to have a big stash of cash, I don't want it depleted at all, lol).

It would be 172 points. You can usually rent from a member for about $11 a point. So about $1900 for the room. I don't know what price the tickets and food were seperatly though.

it would be over $4000 based on your totals but you could cut down on the food a little with the kitchen. It is a lot more space.

Renting points would cost the OP much more money than booking 1 room at POR with a Free Dining Discount - probably $1,500.00 more - and that would include their food.

OP, a 7 night stay at Port Orleans Riverside with 7 day tickets and free dining would only cost your family of 5 about $2,800.00.

How about the newest AOA...sleeps 6 and 2 bathrooms:)
Good chance the new AOA rooms will be blacked out for free dining discounts, at least for the first year they are open. They have been blacked out for all the free dining pin codes that have been floating around the last couple of months.

Op here. I really am grateful for all the ideas and input!

I've got por booked with pin for now. If fd comes out, I will switch. If not, at least I've got something one question though....what's a reasonable budget for 2 adults, 3 kids (13 dd, 12 ds, 9 dd) for all counter service meals for 7 days? If my $765 is way off, my Disney math will be, too.

It just depends on where you eat. Here is a link to all the WDW restaurant menus and meal prices. You can look at the places you want to eat out and add up how much it will cost.

Thanks a ton! Forgot about that website! I figure about $45/ meal. So $90 per day, and share popcorn/funnel cake or something. So about $100-105 per day. More on epcot days, lol less on ak day. Hotel food court seems cheapest about $38...the mugs help with that!

I think free qsdp and just paying outright will cost about the same, but the kids will also get their own treats more often with qsdp.

I reall hope we can work this out for this year!

Something else to keep in mind.
Only one bathroom in POR. If you go with the 2 rooms at POP (connected rooms which you can guarantee if you book it correctly) you will have 2 bathrooms. This is what we do. (we are a family of 5 too) It is worth the extra money to us and the extra bathroom and everyone being able to spread out is worth it.

Port Orleans has always had the regular dining plan as part of a free dining promo, I doubt that will change this year.
