Who besides me is going to miss photo developing at WDW?

Ever since I traveled to WDW the first time in 1997, I have always had the majority of my pictures developed at the photo shop on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom. I am really going to miss that service. Everything has gone digital. I do not presently own a digital camera. I may or may not buy one in the future. I normally bring lots of disposable cameras. They are easily used and developed. At least they used to be before I read that this service was stopped. Now I am going to have to guard all my disposable cameras all the way back to Chicago, before I have them developed. That is a real bummer. I never minded the added expense of having them developed before I went home, because it was really nice having the pictures to show off to family and friends when I got there. Just a thought. Is any one of you of like mind on this topic?

I didn`t know the photo developing at WDW was not available any longer! Too bad! Digital cameras are OK, but I think actual photo prints are great! I also had all my pictures developed at WDW when we were there, could not wait until we were back home!!! Does anyone know what alternatives we have??

DD & DS just got 35mm camaras for Christmas. I'm sure they will, as will I.

If the expense of onsite developing didn't bother you - you could always use an online developer like snapfish. Take along their envelopes and pop those puppies in the mail as you finish the rolls and you will get home to having your photos waiting on you (at lease some of them potentially).

When we went in Oct 2004, we brought disposable cameras along for DS6 and DD2. We knew they'd want to take pictures, but that the quality of their shots wouldn't be great. Before we went down there, we contacted York and Clark photo labs and got the prepaid mailing envelopes. When they were done with a camera, we just popped it in the envelope, stuck a check in with it (or you can use a credit card #), and sent it on it's way. That way we didn't have to worry about the film going through x-ray machines, or getting crushed in a suitcase before it got home. A couple of weeks later (yes, it took that long), the kids were delighted to receive their pictures in the mail. It was inexpensive, and relieved us of something else to keep track of.

Last year we got the disposable cameras developed at our resort. Did the resorts stop developing them too? I hope not.

That's what I read. No more film developing. Just Digital processing. I read this on several different websites. I am not too up on digital technology, but I definitely interpreted it as no film developing into prints. Just memory cards.
