Christmas Snowfall Possible

A cold front now advancing through the Great Lakes could bring the area its first White Christmas since 1995.
The Weather Service issued a statement today saying there is a good chance of snow for Christmas, and the potential for a significant accumulation could not be ruled out.
Inland locations appear to have a better chance of seeing an accumulating snowfall, the bulletin said, and a greater potential for a significant snowfall than does New York City and coastal locations.
WB11 weatherman Mr. G said six to nine inches of snow is possible inland. Several inches of snow could fall on Long Island and in New York City, he said, but warned that conditions could change as the storm draws closer.
"We're going to have to track it very carefully to see what happens," Mr. G said. "It's a difference of 50 miles (in the storm track) between snow and rain."
Today's forecast called for partly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 40s.
