Whitney Houston dead

Her body was still there at least 4 hours after she died, did they think the media would go away or that news outlets would say, "well we can get some footage from one of the grammy reporters that are there already, let's not bother sending anyone" It is now a major circus and they are talking about taking her out in a helicopter.

I think they thought it was packed and it'd be a circus if they tried to bring her body out. It's not like people were going to leave, no, but once the paramedics were called and they call cops, it's out there, every media outlet knows.

There were already entertainment reporters in the hotel and everyone else a hop skip away so... :confused3 I dunno that there was any point at which they could have just done it and not been swarmed and had it be a thing, though I have no idea about the hotel layout.

It's odd to me there isn't an interior ramp or something that they could have used but I'd guess there isn't or they would've.

Hence, yeah, the helipad. They probably would've done that sooner but maybe they need to wait for a helicopter they can use. I mean medivacs are obviously going to be prioritized to emergencies and I dunno if you can load a stretcher onto a helicopter like, Davis could just hire. :confused3 Though I dunno if he even can, it may be the municipality has to have control of moving the body if the coroner is in possession, which... presumably, in the case of a currently equivocal death, would be.

I'm wondering if it isn't deemed a suspicious death at this point in time. Like after the paramedics announced her dead, they have to leave her there as there is an obviously fresh puncture wound on her arm, but no paraphernalia around her or in the apartment.

Whoever found her might have wanted to help her by removing the stuff, but are now being grilled about it. They might realize their fingerprints are now all over the stuff and aren't willing to confess to taking it away, as they might be accused of giving her the lethal dose.

The coroner & the CSI team would have to scour her body before taking her away in case any speck of evidence falls off her. Why else would her body still be on site for so long? :confused3

They'd just photograph, film, measure if they wanted, and take the body and everything else. No need to leave it in situ.

It's actually more likely that it'd be destroying evidence to leave it, because toxicology is better the sooner you can get good samples and preserve stuff rather than it all being at room temp.

I really think it's just the problem of moving it out - which I agree you'd think they could solve but... got me as to the LAPD/LACC/whomever.

The Oscars have actually been postponed three times:
1938 by the Los Angeles floods;
1968 after Martin Luther King was assassinated;
1981 after the attempt on Ronald Reagan's life.

With all due respect to Whitney Houston as a talented performer, she's not on a par with Reagan or King. And too much expense and planning goes into such an event. It's nOT like you can just move it all to theater B on Tuesday if hall X doesn't 'work' for you at the last minute.

Yeah, to think the Grammys would be canceled because yet another washed up singer ODed is just stupid.

Maybe (I have no idea, just speculating) the difference between Houston and Jackson w/re the EMTs and hospital is that they maybe knew she ODed (assuming she did), from stuff in the room and tried to revive her and failed or knew she'd been dead for a period of time before she was found.

Jackson I think there was confusion and lying by the dr. as to what had happened and when and what he was on and what he was given and etc. - so maybe they thought it was something that could have been more likely to be revivable from - including maybe because they thought the medical equipment had been hooked up the entire time and that the dr. had been giving him CPR the entire time, giving him a better chance if they could restart his heart vs. if someone found her and then called them 10 minutes after she died...

Like you ( and others) I am wondering why they stopped CPR. I wonder if she had a DNR?

So sad. She was very talented, and beautiful (until recent years, when she looked strung out most of the time).

I don't think they'd have any way of knowing that (like why would it be in her hotel room?) and I dunno if they can even respect that even if they do know. I mean I think it'd have to be ordered by a medical professional that they stop CPR if they think CPR might work regardless of something like that. :confused3

I think it's more likely it's that she was dead when they got there.

I didn't know what someone else said about Jackson's dr. refusing to call it at the scene but that'd make sense. And if he told the hospital that he'd been performing CPR the entire time, that could explain that too.

I just saw something that was so random.. I was watching SNL and after they showed a sketch, they went to a still shot of Whitney Houston when she was on years ago from a clip that she did with the character Mary Katherine Gallagher, but there was no text saying RIP or that she died..

Huh, I didn't notice it. I had SNL on but wasn't paying that close attn. I guess. I think they just figure everyone knows already and the show is already made so they just swapped a bump still out.

Heck, they even broke into the show with a 'special report: Whitney Houston, still dead," actual NBC news deal, which I thought was kind of ridiculous. I mean if the news had broken during the show, fine, but there was no NEWS about it and it's like hours and hours after the fact.

I didn't see the news break about it but had seen the actual news coverage on the 11pm news broadcast but I also fast forwarded through the commercial breaks. The still shot with MKG was right after the ridiculous crab sketch.

Hah, that sketch was like an SNL skit about the world's worst sketch writing. I kept waiting for it to go somewhere, anywhere and it not only never did, it like, went into reverse or something it was so godawful. I actually wondered who wrote it and what day they did that no one came up with ANYTHING better in five whole days.

Just rewound and saw it (hadn't changed the channel). I think they figure everyone knew and just swapped a still. They did do what I think was a national breaking news deal (it had Lester Holt and the NBC imprint not WNBC but I don't remember when it was and it's beyond where I just rewound) to say she was still dead so... that's my guess. :confused3

Do Not Ressusitate we had one done for my mother cpr can be brutal and we agreed not to do that to her.
Sure, in an elderly or terminally ill person.

Young, healthy people performing at Grammy parties - not usually.

I live here in the OC and our news coverage is LA as well as OC news.

11pm news on now and it appears she died at 3:30pm and they have not removed her body from the Hilton as of yet. The Coroner has moved his vehicle location to prepare for the removal of her body now, they are reporting.

There was no mention at all as to the cause of death.

The Grammys will go on.

RIP Whitney. :sad1:

They would stop CPR if she was clearly dead upon arrival. I'm guessing she was obviously dead when medics arrived.

It's very sad. Addiction kills. :sad1:

I posted this last night, but don't know, where it went. The family is saying Whitney drowned in the bathtub. They realized, fairly quickly, she could not be resuscitated.

This may or not be true, but it's what was said.

The medical examiner will be able to tell that easily enough- I guess the question would be why. Did she hit her head and fall in- was she drunk or drugged and lost consciousness- Did she have a seizure or heart attack or another medical emergency....

I have never heard of anyone who was young and relatively healthy having a DNR. Who would do that?

how much of a career does he have? It would be perfect for him to start singing and break down in the middle of a tribute song to Whitney or just talking about her. It would go viral all over YouTube and he'd get all that instant publicity. :rolleyes1

You are prescient!! That is EXACTLY what he did. Now we will just wait for the viral youtube. It shouldn't take long.

Oops, my bad, got done

I'm very happy that it was just a typo - I thought there was an old, nasty movie by the same name, and that she was desperate enough (heard she was going to file for bankruptcy) to do a remake. I did google it online, and it's a remake of an old Irene Cara movie, not the more 'adult only' one I remember students talking about quite a few years ago. I'm also very unhip about certain phrases people use, so I try to learn as much as I can so the kids at school can get reprimanded when they need to. Thank you for your clarification.

My thoughts and prayers are with Whitney's family. I hope Bobbi's grandmother and other family members are able to help her through this and find a productive, safe, happy life without her mom.
