For those of you who have had your reception here, what exactly was this room like? I am read that there is a patio, etc. How many people does it accommodate and the minimums, etc? I am looking into brunch and I wasn't sure if food minimums changed based on location?

I think it fits 50 people if you don't want dancing, but I'm not sure if that also includes the patio.

The WHR&P accomidates up to 50 people. You do get use of the patio and banquet room. The room looks like a standard convention center banquet room but once decorated looks nice. the only bad thing in my opinion is this mirror that has birds on it but if you don't like you can have it covered up. From the patio, you can see the castle which is pretty cool. for my wedding, we are having 40 people. we are having the cocktail hour on the patio, reception will be in the room with access to the patio. we will also be having a DJ and dance floor. depends on the time of year, but you could always do dancing on the patio also if you needed more room. i have seen pics on here of people doing that. just do some searches within the threads and you should fine pics! i am not sure of the brunch minimums but when i got quoted months ago the lunch food and beverage min. is $100 pp. this of course is subject to change. hope this helps:thumbsup2

If you are having a Wishes Collection event, there are no venue-specific food and beverage minimums at convention center venues like the Whitehall Room. All you would have to meet are the overall food and beverage minimums that all Wishes events must meet: $75/person for brunch (ceremonies starting at 8,9, or 10am), $100/ person @ lunch (noon ceremony), and $125/person @ dinner (2:30, 5, 7:30pm). These can be met by any food or beverage on your wedding day, so you don't necessarily have to spend all that on just the main meal - you could spread it over the cocktail hour, reception and/or dessert party.

If you are having an Escape Collection event, you don't have to meet any overall minimums, so you must pay a food and beverage minimum specific to the location you choose for a private event. These depend on a lot of factors, including time of day, day of the week, season and group size, so only your planner can give you the exact dollar amount. :thumbsup2

We had my bridal tea and our pre-reception in the Whitehall room. It's not huge, but it's very pretty! Here are some pictures from the area so you can get a sense of what the space looks like...

There's a whole open courtyard right outside the room, but somehow nobody got a single picture of it! To give you an idea, we had 40 guests inside for the bridal tea and 58 guests inside/outside for the pre-reception and there was plenty of room for everybody.
