I'm taking my boys to North Dakota for my class reunion next month. We have the opportunity to stop in Bozeman, MT on the way home and take a 1/2 day raft & dinner trip. (I'm assured that this time of year the river is running low and not too wild - great for families)

Anyone done anything like this? What were your experiences?

Thanks!

Can I come with you? Montana and Wyoming are my favorite states. We went rafting in New Mexico some years back and had a great time. It was on the Rio Grande and the water was low at the time and it was pretty tame but we had a great time. I say go for it, how bad could it be.

We do it every year here in Utah and love it! Our 3 kids are addicted to it and they don't take you through very high class rapids..just enough to be fun! I'd go for it! We did it our first time in Jackson Hole and it was a riot and we got addicted and now go at least 2-3 times a summer!

White water rafting is the BEST! Have a blast !

We've done it twice here in Colorado; once down by Canon City on the Arkansas River, and once on the Colorado River near Glenwood Springs. Both were a lot of fun!

No matter how "mild" the river is, be prepared to get at least a little wet. Be prepared to change clothes afterwards, so you might consider wearing swimsuits as underwear. You might also be more comfortable in some of the fast-drying synthetic shirts, shorts, or pants if changing immediately isn't an option.

Have a great time. Wish I were going too!

My family went WWR a few years ago and loved it....I stayed behind with the baby of the family....My DS was about 12 and my nephew was 9. The river got pretty rough in some spots but they had a great time. The water was very cold even in the middle of the summer. Have fun

I went white water rafting a few years ago. It was SO much fun. I am not very adventurous, but I would do it again in a minute.

My dh and I did this a couple of times before we had our dd. I loved it!! I would not do it now though since I have a child but when she gets older I might go again.

My Dentist was THRILLED when I went white water rafting several years ago. Thankfully he is a wonderful dentist and the crowns look great.

I haven't been in years, but I :jumping1: LOVE :jumping1: white water rafting. I've been down the Ocoee in Tennessee (where the 1996 Olympics kayaking competition was held), the Nantahala in NC, the Cardecay in GA, and a week-long rafting/camping trip with 6 friends down the Rio Grande downstream from Big Bend.

I've always had a blast. I had a friend who had his own raft and equipment, so there were times years ago when we went 2-3 times a month. I'd love to go rafting in the Rockies. If anything, the scenery is sure to be magnificent.

Just make sure you pay attention to the guides and the safety lectures, and make sure you hold the paddles the right way. SOOOOO many of the Survivor folks hold theirs the wrong way in challenges I always wonder if they would've done better by holding the paddles the right way and get more power.

MaryEllen: I think the dentist already loves my kids, they both play hockey!;)

Loved it! And I'm the type who can't even go on Space Mountain. We did it in Grand Canyon while we were in Vegas. The boat was actually motorized, so there is no paddling. But the waves can really throw you way up. The water is extremely cold and the sun was very very hot. What a contrast.

I had a blast though. :)
