White vinegar usage

I put 1/4 cup in my steam cleaner water...makes a big difference! !

I have a steamer too. Does it just make it steam better or what does it do? Just realized you might have meant a steam cleaner for your floors. I meant a clothes steamer.

I use to kill weeds, just spray directly on the weed. Depending on size of weed and how much you put on it, it will kill the weed in less than a aday or if needed, use 1-2 x/day until gone. Just remember not to unintentionally spray on good plants.

My Husband hates the smell of White Vinegar but it's what I use to clean. So we collect the peels from clementines (any citrus will work) and stuff them in a large mason jar. Then fill the jar with vinegar and let it soak all the nice scent out of the peels for a week or two. I can use it in my spray bottles with water now and get no comments from DH!

I've seen this on Pinterest but I've always been worried that the citrus will develop a fermenting odor. Does that happen? Do it make your counters shine or do they end up cloudy?

Found this on pinterest- put 1/2 dawn and 1/2 vinegar in one of those dish sponse soap dispensers (put dawn in first so the vinegar doesn't pour out of the sponge right away). I wipe down our shower during my shower after the gym once a week. Doesn't take long at all and it's so much easier to keep the shower clean and get rid of soap scum/hardwater buildup. Also it doesn't stink very badly and I'm not worried about getting it on me.

Also use it for cleaning the Keurig. I have a small steam cleaner- need to try using it in that too!

Apple cider vinegar diluted with water is a good replacement for shampoo and conditioner. It leaves your hair silky and shiny.

I don't replace my shampoo/conditioner with it but sometimes I do use it as a rinse, it does make your hair silky and shiny.

This is a great idea, thanks!

I had no idea.......I'm definitely going to try this!

It's great weed killer. I mix 90% white vinegar, 10% dish detergent (helps it stick to the weeds so it will be absorbed, and a tablespoon of salt.

Cost basically nothing to mix up and works excellent.

I've also used vinegar to clean the shingles on my detached garage. I had some lichens (beginning of mold) and poured some vinegar/water mixture on it and it dried up and rinsed off the next hard rain we had.

Don't know if white vinegar would do the same thing...
Hopefully you won't need it for this but I used apple cider vinegar for a very bad sunburn my 12 yo daughter got during our vacation in Branson. Although we were using 50 SPF sunscreen and reapplying all the time, she got very burned while we were boating. As per internet instructions, she took a cool shower and we dabbed cotton balls soaked in vinegar on her burn. It was a MIRACLE worker!! She was not sore anymore and didn't even peel. She made a big deal about not wanting it (thought she'd stink for a long time) but was very happy once it soaked in and she was pain free. Needless to say, she wore a swim shirt the rest of the trip. :beach:

I've been doing it for a year or so and haven't had a fermenting issue. :) But we don't eat citrus often so by the time I've bought a bag and we've gotten through them I'm in need of more vinegar solution. So really about 8-10 days is how long mine "brews". My counters are super shiny and it works well on mirrors too!

to wash windows my Mother used that for years and wiped them off with new paper. it also can be used to desolve lime in dsihwashers and toliets and clean floors with and years ago when was no shampoos they used say Tide to wash our hair and then Mother rinsed it well with vinegar water. I run a pot full thru my Mr Coffee and then rinse thru two pots of clean water tto rinse it out. there are so many things for vinegar use now days---again--- that bet google can show you many more ways to use it. just put in uses for vinegar

Just learned (the hard way) last week to use vinegar to take the sting out of a jellyfish sting. Kept my dd8's arm covered in a vinegar soaked towel for 30 minutes and she was fine. Will now bring vinegar whenever we visit an ocean.

I use vinegar & water for most of my cleaning, but I will def. be trying this idea. :thumbsup2 Thanks!

Laundry to get funky, mildew smells out.

And every once and a while for my long hair when I want it extra clean and shiny.

We use it for sunburns all the time! Truely takes the sting out. Also works great for bee and wasp stings. Wrap a paper towel/wash cloth with vinegar on it for 15-20 minutes and the swelling and pain are gone!

homemade super-duper spray cleaner,1c vinegar,1c alcohol,1 c water....spray and clean everything!
I am almost out,I need more vinegar...it has been proven to disinfect as well as bleach, and it isn't harmful to surface or breathing.....I spray it on fruits and veggies before washing, onto countertops to disinfect(leave on for a minute or two then wipe up)

I always wondered if the vinegar/water solution for cleaning was actually able to disinfect. That was always the reason that stopped me from using it. I am a freak about germs and want to make sure they get killed! :rolleyes1

Vinegar does not disinfect as much as bleach, I still will use Lysol on my counters.

My best use is for cleaning the microwave. I add some essential oil (lemon or orange) and bring it just to a boil. Then I let it sit a minute or two and everything wipes right up.
