DD has taken up snoring, just enough that I have a hard time sleeping in the same room as her at hotels. Does anyone have a white noise machine that they would recommend? I also have earplugs. Thank you!
Honey? Is that you? I didn't know you were on the Dis too.
Ok, in all seriousness. At home my DS 14 uses a small fan in his room every night for years. In the past year my DD 18 started using a small fan in her room. On a recent 2 night hotel stay, the fan would not stay on continuous, my DS was restless, I asked "what's your problem?" exasperated he says "I need white noise" not "I need a fan." I turned on my app for a fan, did not hear from him again.
For my hubby, he's a light sleeper, complains all the time for years of what woke him up or kept him up. About 3 weeks ago I got so fed up with his whining I turned on my white noise app and he LOVES it. We've tweaked the sounds and volumes used (he wanted louder). Says he's getting best sleep of his life. I prop my phone up on the kickstand on our headboard.
For fan-only sounds we use "Sleep Aid Fan" that has different type of fan sounds, I used for my son. For hubby, we use "Relaxio," this has multiple types of sounds that you can pick 1, 2, or 3 of to make combinations of sounds and you can save your favorites and title them. He liked the "wave" sound but I wasn't keen on the loud, then soft, then loud again. So, I added in "fan" so the softer wave times had something. I saved this combo of about 60% wave and 40% fan and now we're both happy. Both apps have a timer feature if you only want a short time or will run continuously.
The entire family is now on white noise! I would certainly try at home and get used to it while in your own bed, than to try it new in a hotel with new bed, new pillow, new lights, etc. etc.
If white noise doesn't work, I recommend the trifecta of a perfect nights sleep: 1) Eye covering 2) ear plugs 3) over the counter sleeping pills
