I've read that Whispering Canyon is a lot of fun, and I've looked at the menus, but what is the deal with it? It's not a character meal so what is special about it?

Prime Time Cafe at MGM in the way CM servers interact with you and family to make dining experince a real hoot.If you are kind of shy or laid back this is not place for you.If you like PTC you will really like WCC.

The waiters/waitresses try to pull shenanigans with the customers, in a joking way of course. For example, if at WCC, you ask for ketchup, and they might bring you 20 bottles of it!

There is also the bottomless milkshake... yum! And I've heard good things about the skillet also. Have you seen the menu?

Without giving too much away, they joke with you a lot over the meal. An example is when the server brings your drinks, they might throw the straws up in the air over the table. They have pony rides for the kids--on wooden stick ponies. The kids gallop around the dining room. If it's your birthday, they'll make you run around the restaurant saying, "It's my birthday, it's my birthday". That sorta stuff. Lots of fun. My kids get a kick out of it.

Prime Time at MGM is similar. The "mom" or waitress, makes you "finish your meal", "keep your elbows off the table". It's all an act in good fun.

Either place is great but I love the food at WCC.

Have a great trip.

It has great CM interaction! It is definately NOT the place to go if you are shy, want a quiet dinner, or do not like being the center of attention. Just like 50s PT it's all about the theming and CM interaction. I won't give anything away, but I wll say that the food is just as good as the atmosphere. Which means there is plenty of comedy.

Thanks I was wondering if it was worth a trip to Wilderness Lodge for and it sounds like it might be.

Whispering Canyon and 50s Prime Time Cafe are in a class by themselves. They're really better than character meals... they are indeed character meals of a sort, but instead of Disney characters, the servers are characters, of their creation -- much more fun IMHO.

Bicker, which has better food/
WCC or AP?

two adults, no kids.

any comment, please......:goodvibes

You cannot really compare the two.

Artist Point is one of the best restaurants at WDW. It is a remarkably incredible fine dining establishment.

Whispering Canyon is good food and great fun, but not fine dining.

My 15 year old son had shoulder length hair last year and CM kept aggravating him about why didnt he get a haircut and could she braid it. He was embarrassed at first, but then started giving it back to her. The kids loved it, but it sure is not for you if you are looking for a quiet meal, lol. :rotfl:

Sounds perfect for my kids, and I'm going to order a birthday cake for DH there so the servers will know it's his 40th birthday! :lmao:

Just a note...the interaction completely depends on your server. We went last summer and were not impressed at all. We were really making an effort to joke around & have fun, but our server wasn't into it.

I was really excited about our dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe with our grandchildren, ages 5 and 2. We had been to Prime Time Cafe the night before and all really enjoyed it. Unfortunately we were seated outside the main room, on the other side of a wall, and were told we could wait 20-30 minutes for a different table. We probably should have waited, although I have to say, our waiter (BJ) was wonderful and did all he did to involve the kids in the action, but obviously it was difficult--we couldn't let the kids run around in the other room with the other kids unless we went with them. I know he could see I was almost in tears sitting there in our quiet little corner. It put a huge damper on the night for me. Wait for the main room--you won't be sorry!

I agree. We ended up in the back room the last time and it was nowhere near as good.

I haven't been to WC yet, but even if you don't go, check out WL. It's pretty cool! We finally made it there in Dec. 2003, on our way to HDDR. We went back to visit in Jan. 05, while on our way to FW to ride the ponies. It's a beautiful resort.

We love the Whispering Canyon Cafe. The food is great and the service is wonderful! As said by others, the service is a character meal in itself. A wonderful cast of characters bring you like-home cooking in large portions!!!! But just be careful when you ask for the ketchup because you just may end up 30 of them on your table!!!!!

The kids love the horse races around the place. But most of all you can't beat the atmosphere connected the the lodge itself. So cozy and beautiful. It is worth the trip the the Wildrness Lodge alone.

If it's your birthday, they'll make you run around the restaurant saying, "It's my birthday, it's my birthday".

Or, if it's your sister's birthday but she's conveniently holding a newborn and suggests to the server that you may be inclined to make a fool of yourself, you might just be trotting around the restaurant on a stick pony, with your toddler, singing "happy birthday" at the top of your lungs. :scratchin (Of course, if you are the same sister who handed your sister's license to the server to prove it actually WAS said sister's birthday, well, I may just have deserved that...)

Just a note...the interaction completely depends on your server. We went last summer and were not impressed at all. We were really making an effort to joke around & have fun, but our server wasn't into it.

If you end up getting a server whos just not into it, can you ask the manager for a different table? If I am going to pay good money for the fun at that type of resturant, I definately don't want a waiter whos not having a good night.
