Whispering Canyon Skillet - Lunch Vs Dinner?

My DBF had the skillet for dinner when we first got to WDW last year, and he liked it. I tried bits and pieces of it and thought the same.

The big thing about it is it's all-you-can-eat, if you're not going to even be able to handle the initial amount (my DBF couldn't, even with me helping a bit), it's probably not even worth getting in the first place. If you do go for it, don't pig out on the super tasty cornbread beforehand. :thumbsup2 I had the big Tamarind Beef Rib and thought it was really delicious; I think I was happier with that than I would've been with the skillet.

I don't care for experience restaurants like WCC and 50s PT, but sometimes you get lucky and get a server who just won't bother with all the antics. That's how it was when we went to to both restaurants last year. Our server was friendly and attentive, but thankfully left us alone in that aspect. Even managed to be seated in front of the fireplace, away from the real ruckus of the "main" dining area. If possible, you could try to request a seat towards the back of the restaurant for a more low key dining experience.

I have eaten at WCC three times, all for dinner. Twice we stayed at the Lodge, and the third time I made a special trip. Unfortunately because it was just the two of us(me and hubby) they sat us out back in the quiet section. It kind of took away from the experience, we like the fun of the main dining area.

Like most Disney rest. the skillet dinner was overpriced but since that sort of food is hubby's fave, he thought it was grand. I merely thought it was o.k. You do get lots of food though, so if you are a big eater, the skillet dinner is the way to go.
