I have seen on a few websites and other threads that the skillet for lunch is $17.99 and the skillet for dinner is $26.99.

Taken from allearsnet:

LUNCH
Canyon Skillet
All You Care To Enjoy $17.99 per person

Smoked Pork Ribs, Oven-roasted Chicken, and Pork Sausage served with Cowboy Beans, Corn on the Cob, Creamy Coleslaw, Mashed Potatoes, and Fresh-baked Cornbread

DINNER
Canyon Skillet
All You Care To Enjoy $26.99 per person

Smoked Pork Ribs, Pulled Pork, Oven-roasted Chicken, Beef Brisket, Mashed Potatoes, Cowboy Beans, and Corn on the Cob Mixed Greens Salad with Apple Vinaigrette, Coleslaw, and Fresh-baked Cornbread

From what I can tell, the difference is for dinner you get salad, brisket, and pulled pork. However, you get pork sausage for lunch which isn't listed for dinner. Basically, you get 2 more items for dinner and it costs $9 more per person. Right?

Are these offerings & prices up to date? I've read mixed comments stating that the lunch sausage was swapped out for shrimp. Anyone had this recently? Just trying to decide which we'll do. Not sure if some salad and pulled pork is worth $16 more ;)

Thanks :thumbsup2

We opted to go there for dinner. For us the decision was pretty easy. We'd much rather have pulled pork and brisket instead of sausage. So the dinner skillet is more appealing to us. Also, dinner just fit better into our plans. We don't have any TS lunches booked at resorts because we don't know where we'll end up on days we're not going to a theme park, and we booked TS lunches inside the theme parks at places we would like to eat. We're also staying at BWV, so it is a little bit of a trip to get to WL from there (even though we'll have the car...but we may not want to leave the resort area on non-park days). For someone staying at WL, it is very convenient to go there for lunch. If lunch works better for you and it is a better value to you, then go for it! I have heard good things about both lunch and dinner at WCC!

Haven't done lunch, but did dinner. Won't be going back -- awful service and awful food in our personal opinions. There was no shrimp when we were there.

I have eaten there Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner while staying at WL. I have to say unless you are staying at WL, I would not make a special trip there to eat unless of course you want to check out the resort which is very pretty, My DH favorite resort in fact. It is a short hope from MK on the boat so makes either lunch or dinner easy , I would try the lunch for the difference in cost.
Be prepared it can and does get very LOUD in WCC.

Thanks for the replies so far! We are staying at AKL and have noticed in the past that eating at the resorts can get tricky when you incorporate all the travel time. We've visited the WL before and seen how beautiful it is, so we wouldn't 'have' to go for that reason alone :) Hmm.......

We love WCC. It is DH's favorite restaurant on our trips. He loves the skillet, eats until he is so full he wants to go nap. lol
I don't get the skillet, not a huge bbq fan, but they have one of the best ribeyes I have ever tasted!!! It is so tender and tasty....mmmm just thinking of it makes my mouth water.

Anyway, we go for dinner, last trip was Dec 09 and no shrimp on the skillet. (dh doesn't like shrimp anyway)
But lunch is an option to, because he loves sausage, so for us either way is good.

I can tell you that you will hear positive and negatives about every place at WDW...the only thing you can do is try for yourself if you find the menu appealing. I have found some real gems not listening to all the negative views. So I always say, if the menu appeals to you go with an open mind and decide for yourself. ;)

I've heard that dinner is more fun than lunch if you like the silly stuff that happens there. We went for dinner in 2008 and going again in 2010, also to enjoy the lobby Christmas decorations.

I did the skillet at WCC a couple of weeks ago for dinner. I can confirm that all of those items came with it, and that every item with the exception of the brisket was essentially inedible, and the brisket was merely acceptable. It was the only bad meal we had in nine days, but it was truly terrible. My wife had the pork loin and it was OK, but nothing to rush back for.

The rest of the schtick was not up our alley. We generally love "experience" dining, but it seemed forced and our server was really odd.

WCC is the only place that we won't be returning to from our last trip, so if you're going only to see WL, I'd skip it.

We enjoy WCC, prefer dinner over lunch, and agree that the experience is often based on your server. It's something we do regularly. Our first visit was lunch with 35 other travel agents and only one wasn't really impressed. No special treatment, we ate with everyone else, ordered like everyone else, etc. Give it a try - let us know what YOU think! ;)

Not to be a negative nancy, but we ate there in late january and it wasnt good for us at all. The food was just okay, imo over priced. The schtick is just what you read, and no surprises. So, for us, we had poor food watching the same schtick we read about. We wouldnt recommend it.

We like WCC and is the one restaurant that our kids ask to go to every year. We usually would go twice in every trip, once for breakfast and once for dinner. (We were staying at WL) This year we are only going for the breakfast.
Give it a try. We really enjoy it there. We prefer the breakfast food to the dinner food, but our kids are very picky eaters and the food there is more "normal" to them than at some of the other places.

We ate there last week for dinner. We were lucky and got a table in the end room instead of the main dining room. Way too noisy, especially at 8:50PM.

The corn was very good, similar to how I cook it fresh instead of frozen, over cooked ears. The beans were not good and I compared them to our local barbeque places which are very good. They were hard and tasted just like catsup (must be where they stash all the catsup). The corn bread was very good. The brisket was dry. Pulled pork was pretty good. We had three servings of ribs, but neither my son nor I eat ribs, so my husband got all three servings.

All three of us got the skillet, so we had a half chicken - one breast, one dried up old wing, one leg and one thigh/back. The only piece that got eaten was the breast. We had the salad and were not offered coleslaw which I really like. We didn't get any dessert and ate dessert we had back in our villa instead.

It was pretty much a "been there, done that" moment for us.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. I know, like anything, you take in what people give you and then ultimately have to decide for yourself. I'm still not sure. We really don't eat much which makes it seem like it would kind of be a waste of $$ (no DDP for us.) I also get a little embarrassed with antics (which is why I don't do 50's PT.) Unfortunately, WCC and 50sPT are the two places that have this type of down home cooking type stuff that DH loves. I don't cook, so he never really gets 'home cooking.' :rotfl: If he really wants to go after looking at the menus, I guess I'll suck it up and go for him. :rotfl: I'll let you know if we end up going :)

can you share a skillet or is it priced per person?

I believe you get one skillet, but you pay the above listed amount per person that will be consuming what's in it, right? They don't bring each person their own skillet do they?? :scared1:

No, it is one skillet and they add food per person.

You might want to try Liberty Tree Tavern in the MK if you want "home cooking". On the lunch menu they have some excellent pot roast and a turkey dinner (ala Thanksgiving). For dinner they have an all you can eat family style meal with slice beef, sliced turkey and ham, if I remember correctly.

I agree with the "try it and decide for yourself approach". Prior to buying into DVC we always stayed at a monorail resort. At least once a trip, we would head over to WL to eat at WCC, take pics in front of the totem, and watch the geyser. For us the food is fine but the whole package makes it worthwhile to us. We will be staying at WL in December on our first day prior to checking into BLT for the rest of the trip and guess what...we have a reservation at WCC. Try it and decide for yourself. Oh, it terms of the schtick...it all depends on your server. I'm not a huge fan either and told our server on our last visit that...she said good to know and was pleasant and not over the top the entire night...she did make sure to let us know when then the "horse race" was going to happen so my DD5 could participate.

We went there on our March trip. We had just gotten off the Wonder, and we were staying at WL for 2 nights. We had dinner at WCC the same day we disembarked. DH loved the food, as did I. My little one (6 at the time) didn't really care for his skillet, but ate the beans from our skillet. My 8 year old loved it, and ate every piece off of his plate!

We also had the Smores Cheesecake there & it was YUMMY!

I would definitely give it a try. We didn't order anything that required ketchup so our antics were kept to a minimum. :rotfl:
