For our Father Daughter trip in late Sept/ early Oct. my dad and I originally had WCC scheduled for a late lunch on our arrival day. After they have changed the skillet, which I know is what my Dad will want, I am having second thoughts about WCC.

I really want to do one dinner of that type with my Dad, as he will love the antics, and am wondering if 50's Prime Time might be a better choice for us. For those who have done both, which did you enjoy more and why?

TIA

Amy

Oh that is a hard one! We ate at both on our last trip and enjoyed them both very much. The Wilderness Lodge was beautiful to explore and I really enjoyed the food at WCC, especially the dessert! The wait staff was fun too.

We always make a point to go to 50's because my kids (15,12,12) love it so much. I think the fact that it is in a park helps. The food is good as well and we have had some fun wait staff over the years - sometimes better than others.

I really think that you cannot go wrong with either one. Good luck!

Happy planning!

Leaving in 11 days!!! :cool1:

We ate at both places and thought the food at WCC was so much better than at 50's. We also thought the atmosphere was a bit better at WCC as well. Of course as we were waiting, we enjoyed the lobby of the WL and fell in love with it.

The lodge is beautiful to see but both my husband and myself definitely enjoy the food at 50's Prime Time more. The smoked food did not agree with either one of us. We are both in our 50's (if that helps). Good luck!

50's, we love the food, decor and all the antics

That is a good question, and I've never seen these 2 restaurants compared to each other, although it makes sense. Both offer very American-style dining, but certainly different eras, and both offer service that is kind of "in your face", with the antics of the CM's. Be prepared for the antics, whichever restaurant you choose. I like them, but they are not for everyone.

Having said that, I'd probably go with WCC. We just like the food a little better here, and it gives you a little more chance to just talk with whoever you're eating with. There's a lot to eat at WCC besides just the family skillet. I had an awesome burger there when we ate lunch there after our Disney cruise in April. But now it seems like they've added the antics that they only used to have during dinner to their lunch now. If you're wanting a "quiet" meal, Artist Pointe at WL is a better fit, and the food is incredible.

Why not also do 50's? If you have an ADR for this, it can be a fairly quick meal, and it is also worth it in its own right. 50's serves a lot of what I would call "comfort" foods: pot pies, veggies, mashed potatoes, etc. At least they did when we went in 2005.

We ate at both the week of 8/13 and enjoyed both greatly. However, we didn't really get "antics" at either place.

I've seen a lot of mention of the skillet changes at WCC. This was our first time to eat there, but I guess the changes listed were the addition of shrimp and removal of corn. Our skillet had the corn on the cob, and surprisingly the shrimp were fantastic and blended well with the other flavors. So I guess I liked the changes.

Decisions, decisions, decisions - this is a hard one!!!!

They are both great, and it really depends on what you plan on doing the rest of the day/night. If you are going to be in MGM later I would go to 50's Prime Time. If you are shopping at DTD or whatever else, then I would do Whispering Canyon. You won't be disappointed with either :thumbsup2

Really it's going to depend on which waiter you get. You will read reviews where someone had a great server at one and had a great time, then you will read a review where the server was not into the antics and people were severely disappointed at the same restaurant. Personally we've dined at both and had the most hilarious waitress at WCC. We've dined twice at Prime Time and had a dud both times, but had fun watching the waitress at the table next to ours. She saw us watching her and even came over to give us a hard time. Our waiter on the other hand never cracked a smile. Our waitress at WCC had our table covered in ketchup, threw straws at us, brought my son a HUGE jar of coke, made us dance the hokey pokey, and tried very loudly to set my adult son up with two young ladies sitting a couple of table away from us. She was a hoot!

We're going to both Prime Time and WCC for our Sept/Oct trip and hopefully will get a good server at at least one of them.

We've eaten at both now and 50's PTC is much better in terms of food. I thought the food at WCC was way overrated. PTC's food had a real homemade taste whereas we thought WCC had no taste.

I am actually going on a trip with both of my parents next week and I have to tell you I booked 50's just because of my Dad. It reminds me of the rules we used to have when we were kids (elbows, eat it all, etc.). I am certain my Dad will enjoy these type of antics much more than the whoopin it up at WCC (which we are also visiting, but that's because we are staying at WL).

Either way, I'm sure your Dad will enjoy either since he is spending time with his princess!

Wow, thanks for all of the replies. We had a couple of spots open for ADRs, so I think that I will just add in 50s somewhere. I sent my Dad the menus and he said "they both look good" (very helpful, lol).

Thanks again!

I would do both. Then you can compare for yourself and not wonder if you made the right choice

:cool1: WWC is soooo much fun!:dance3: We've eaten there twice. The food was wonderful, and the atmosphere and mood is a lot of fun!!!:dance3:
