Whispering Canyon (opinions)

My DH, DD2 and I went to WCC on 01/17 for the first time. We really enjoyed the food. We went for lunch, and although we still had fun with the waitstaff, it was very quiet. The ribs are great and definitely worth the trip!!!

Love the WCC!! Tried it on my trip in Dec '03. Didn't know anything about in other than the type of food it served so went for dinner. I enjoyed it so much I went back for breakfast the next morning! Anybody looking for a quiet, relaxing meal should look elsewhere. It's loud and boisterous and just good fun! Having a PS is a definite must, especially for dinner. It was extremely crowded the night I went and I was so glad I had one as the wait was 60 min. Can't wait to go back!

We have PS's for 2/14 at WC (not the most romantic, but it should be a lot of fun!). Other than the ketchup and water, what other things should we request to make the meal more fun?

You should also ask for a Pepsi and directions to Universal.

We too loved the WCC. You can also ask for a certain colored crayon. My kids have not stopped talking about this place and we will definetly have to visit again on our upcoming trip. As others have said, you must really be in the mood for a LOUD, activity driven meal. My kids wouldn't have it any other way!

A lot of fun and very noisey. We were there in Dec, with 10 adults and 7 children, 5 ages 6 or younger. I made the mistake of scheduling this for our first dinner. It was the first trip for the 5 youngest. I think they were a little overcome with the noise level. We went to character meals and/or buffets for the rest of the week. They really became used to the activity. The only disappointment is they did not do the "Buttercup" dance. I was looking forward to the kids reaction when my brother. his son and SIL, and our son and SIL performed.

DH says Whispering Canyon should be named Roaring Forks and Roaring Forks should be called Whispering Canyon

anyways - we stayed at the VWL this past Oct and didnt return to Whispering Canyon

We LOVED Whispering Canyon. Dinner is definitely more fun than lunch. The food was great and the interaction was fabulous. My 14 yo dd wanted me to cancel all other PS's and only eat at WC every night! The waitstaff there is the best.

The boat ride takes maybe 10 minutes or so...definitely worth the trip!

We went for the 1st time during our last trip and loved it! The food was great, and alot of it! We were stuffed, but had to try the banana/ice cream dessert, which was absolutely heavenly!!!

Unfortunately, WC was the worst meal of our 2002 trip. The CM at the check-in desk was snotty and our server was slow and not into the experience at all. My children were in tears as every other table in the room was getting the WC "treatment." When we asked for ketchup the waitress simply brought us a bottle - after a 10-minute wait. Another server noticed and organized a group to bring us more, but by that point the meal was ruined for us. The kids want to try it again, as we've heard so many fun things, but it's hard for me to dredge up any enthusiasm for the place. I guess we just hit it on a bad night, but I wanted to warn you not to go in with overly high expectations. It must be great, and I may give in to the kids and go back in 2006.

Same here. Kids weren't in tears, but definately did not enjoy it. Overpriced for food that was just OK. We won't be going back

I would like to try Artist Point though, and the WL was incredible. Want to stay there, when the price is right. It is worth the boat ride to see the resort, and get a break.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in 2001 and 2001. Over the course of the 2 trips, we had breakfast at Whispering Canyon 3 times and dinner 4 times. Our family LOVES the place.

It is not for everyone. It is a show as much as it is a place to eat.

On one occasion, my son had to go to the restroom, so I went with him. Now *I* didn't have to go, just him. So, when we come back, the waiter asks where we went. I told him and he asks me what color the soap was. I said I didn't know. He yells out "He went to the restroom and doesn't know what color the soap was!!"

On another occasion, we went for my son's 5th birthday. My wife had to ride one of the stick horses around the room singing Happy Birthday to him. Of course the entire place helps sing along.

It's a very fun place.

Now, you can ask to be seated way in the back away from the main dining area if you want a little more peace and quiet.

We ate breakfast here a few years ago when the kids were small, and did not really like it. The food was fine, but we actually did not know what to expect, and when I got "put in jail" for asking for ketchup, my youngest DD (about 4 then) was really scared. The waitress didn't catch on, and didn't back off. We probably won't go back. Not our style.

We have only been once. It is really noisy and we don't care for the way the food was served - family style. The food wasn't bad. Sometimes after a long day with massive crowds you look forward to a quiet dinner. This is not the place for that. I think it is great for families with young children.

We had a great time there in Dec, I thought the food was excellent and the entertaining staff were a a blast. We ran the Pony express with the stick ponies and recieved a certificate after. I would definetly go there again!!! :thewave:

Another family here that really, really likes WCC. We like the atmosphere, we like the food, we like the antics. It is a short boat ride from either MK or CR, but I believe the boat from CR stops at Ft. Wilderness first, so give yourself a little time from there. (but it's a great ride!).

Definitely do not go if you are tired or have a headache. I made that mistake going to Chef Mickey's when I felt that way, and I don't care if I ever return to there, based on how I was feeling when we experienced it.

We esp. like the biscuits and cornbread you get at the beginning....(I don't know if it comes with every meal, cause we always get the family style all you can eat meal). Very yummy. I also love the salad dressing on the salad, and the ribs and chicken are tasty too! My kids loved the pony races; there is a great Lincoln Log table in the wait area for kids to play at too. And just exploring the Lodge is such a treat!

We really enjoyed WCC and would go there again, good food and fun times. We did however decide it is not a good place to go on a travel day (ie the day you get there or leave) as it is not a good place to relax!

I've got the best pictures of my son tied to his chair trying to drag it around the WCC as he chases our waiter! The waiter had tied him to his chair and stole his pin lanyard! GO FOR LUNCH! There are few people there and the kids get alot more attention!

I think it is great for families with young children.

I think it is great for any age as long as you can enjoy the type of atmosphere WCC has. I have no kids and when I went both my DBF and myself were 35 yo and we had a blast!
