Hi: We are going to try whispering canyon for lunch, we are on the dining plan. What do people recommend here, we saw the skillet meal and wondering if it is good. Or what else is recommended at this restaurant.

Thanks,

Deb.

We had the skillets for dinner last week, and they were fabulous! It came with salad and rolls, and the skillet consisted of: ribs, pulled pork, kielbasa, chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, and barbecue beans.

By the way, the Grand Canyon Margarita is really good also.

We had lunch there this past June---we ordered the skillet and it was really good. I got this info from Deb Wills' site:

Our Famous Canyon Skillet
All-You-Care-To-Eat

Featuring smoked pork ribs, oven-roasted chicken and pork sausage, served with cowboy beans, corn on the cob, coleslaw, Yukon gold mashed potatoes and fresh baked corn bread, served Family Style $13.99 per person

We enjoyed this meal so much that we are eating dinner there next June :flower:

The skillet is really good, and a great value for lunch. The lunch skillet also doesn't include the salad.

Does the dinner skillet also include dessert? I hear you can get a shake there as your drink but was wondering what desserts are allowed with the skillet meal? Just curious, don't know if I could eat that much!

Yep, no pulled pork for the lunch skillet. Nice pulled pork sandwich--as well as ribs-- at the Flame Tree Bar-b-que in AK. The milkshakes at WCC are refillable, if that helps you out.
As for desserts, often we hop over to La Patissiere in Epcot, for a fabulous selection at reasonable prices-

That's weird that you both said that as I found another thread not too long ago where several people say that you can pick a dessert after the skillet- just no appetizer as the salad counts as the appetizer... :confused3

We had lunch at the WCC 2xs during our last trip (were staying at WL, so it was easy! :flower: ). I had the pulled pork sandwich BOTH times!! YUM!! :cool1:

We have had the pulled pork sandwich, the chicken sandwich, and the fried chicken. We don't get the skillet because we want more room for the all you can drink milkshakes. :goodvibes

If you like fish, my DH had THE BEST rainbow trout there for lunch. It's only on the lunch menu, here's the description of it: Texas Taffy's Gone Fishin' - Pan-seared Rainbow Trout with Roasted Yukon Gold Potatoes, Smoked Bacon, Onions, Spinach, and fresh Cucumber Relish, drizzled with Chili Oil $13.99

I had the pulled pork sandwich, it was very good. Here are pictures of both:

I hate, yes HATE all seafood, but he asked me to try a bite so I did. I have to say, it was actually VERY VERY GOOD! And this from someone who hates seafood! It had a wonderful flavor and delicate texture, I loved the seasoning they used; and it did not have a fishy taste at all.

Thanks for the pics, the meals look good and plentiful. I am looking forward to having a milkshake, have not had one for years.

WCC was our favorite meal, you will enjoy it! I had pasta and my husband had the skillet!

We had the skillets on the dining plan. No appetizers as the salad counted for those, but we did get desserts. Hubby had the banana dustbowl, I had the celebration desert (smores) and kiddo had worms in dirt. All in all, an excellent meal - 2nd only to Le Cellier - and you absolutely can't beat the atmosphere and service.
