Whispering Canyon for birthday?

My DW wants to take me to Whispering Canyon for my birthday this November. We've never eaten there before. Not sure it's where I want to eat my birthday meal. Please let me know what you think of Whispering Canyon. If you have a different suggestion, please post that as well.

If you plan to have kids in tow then I would say yes - you'll all have a good time. However, if it' just you and your wife - I'd say go to Artist Point - the atmosphere is much more condusive to a romantic birthday dinner where you could actually hear what she is saying to you when she speaks. If you are looking for a fun kind of hoe down atmosphere skip WC and try Hoop De Doo - it's great.

I had my 40th bday there and loved it. It was just me and DH, was our first time there and picked it because of the food, not for romance. It most certainly isn't a romantic place so if that is what you want choose another but if you are looking for good BBQ or a good steak (at 1 TS) then it is a good spot. DH had the skillet and loved it, infact so much it is his favorite restaurant. I had the ribeye and it was very very good! Yes the waitress did some antics, especially with DH (he very much encourages them). As for me, they made me stand up while everyone sung happy bday to me....except I had to fill in my name at the appropriate times....lol

All in all it was very good, would recommend it for dinner. Just depends on what you want your bday dinner to be like. For me, the whole vacation was a celebration I didn't care where I ate, just that it was good and I had steak.

Me and my wife love it. We go every trip. Its fun and has good food. I would go there on my birthday.

Yes I have heard mixed reviews as well. I assume it is like every other place on earth, they have bad days. I suppose you could ask for an upbeat server, not sure if that will get you one but it is worth a try. And I can't say I was the center of attention except for the brief time they sung to me. All I can say is the food was good when we were there and we do plan on going back this trip, it is only 1 of 2 repeat places.

WC is one of our favorites, although after our trip last week, our new favorite dinner is 'Ohana (we dined at both for dinner).

WC itself is not really romantic - unless you enjoy that cowboy, hoot'n'hollerin' type of romance - but the resort is beautiful - take a stroll around and a boat ride to/from the MK!

We go every year, food has been consistently good for us - as other posters mentioned, the level of engagement from the servers varies. Yep - they'll make you get up for your birthday and yell & sing, but there is so much of that going on you shouldn't feel singled out

We had our first meal there on our recent trip and both liked it. Yes, it is loud and crowded--in the main dining area. It was just my BF and I and we somehow lucked out (maybe because of mention of his birthday on the reservation?) and were seated behind the main area right in front of the fireplace. It actually was much quieter and our server didn't get us involved in anything or make us stand out in any way.

If you like barbecued meat, cornbread, etc... this would be a good place. We definitely enjoyed everything we ate there.
