If you have a dinner reversation here at 8:00 p.m. and are there at least an hour or hour and half and don't have a car, how would you get back to the Animal Kingdom Lodge?
The cheapest way is to go to DTD and change buses. Depending on park closing times, there may not be any buses going stopping at the parks for you to change.
Actually, a Taxi back to AKL from the Lodge will be around $20.00 .We taxi'd to & from the Contemporary from AKL which is in the same vacinity & it was $20 each way. (April 2005)If you were coming from one of the more central resorts (like the Dolphin), it'd be about $10-$12.
We often use taxis for coming home after dining at night. It is worth every penny. We generally use WDW transpo going to & a cab coming home.
OK, sorry Leota, I'm sure you're right because we haven't taken a taxi from WL to AKL. It was just a guess. Thanks for correcting it.....I'd still take a taxi though!

If it were me - I'd ask the first bus driver to arrive at the WL bus stop if he'll take you to whatever theme park it is he's going to, even though that park might be closed. Then you can catch an AKL bus from there.
Somehow connecting through DD seems to usually be the slowest way of all - and doubly so for AKL, which is as far from DD as you can get.
I'd take the cab, too. I you all can't fit in one car, get the minivan kind.
If it is possible, you might try Whispering Canyon on a day you're at the Magic Kingdom. That way you can take the boat (or bus) there and back and not have to transfer anywhere.
