Anyone been there recently (or ever) and willing to share their review of the place? We are thinking about eating there. Heard it's a fun place.

We went for dinner the first time and had a blast. Unfortunately, our server was new and quite timid, so he didn't interact much. I had read this board enough to know some of the antics, so I coaxed my daughter up on a chair to yell for ketchup. Our second time there was for breakfast and it wasn't very busy but our server "hopalong" something or other was wonderful. He teased my husband because he was there with 4 females and he had the longest hair (down to the middle of his back). If you don't mind noise, and want to act silly, this is a great place. Not to mention the food is fabulous too. If you are worried about cost, go at breakfast, you get a feast and it's not expensive at all.

Here is what I wrote about WCC in my trip report from June 2005. I had links to some photos, but if you really want to see some photos from WCC, go to the sticky on the Disney Restaurant thread about "show your photos of WDW food" or something like that. There are several shots from different people. We liked it so much that we're heading back for our Christmas day lunch. Hope this helps!

We made it to WL with time to spare, so we took a gander at the place…it is huge! And yeah, I could tell the similarities between WL and AKL, which were designed by the same person. We were seated right away at a table in the center of the room, just past the hostess stand. Our CM was Raging Bull, or at least that is what he told us and for the life of me I can’t remember the name on his badge. Now, if you’ve never been to WCC as we had not, then you could be in for a treat or not depending upon how you look at it. I, having read my DIS board reports knew what we might be in for that evening…and secretly hoped all of the stuff I’d read would happen. Ah, with pixie dust wishes do come true. Okay, we never needed any ketchup, but we sure saw lots of it getting passed around. DS did ask for a second drink and a third and yep! Each glass got bigger with each refill…even the straw got longer. DS was having a blast! When DS had to make a trip to the bathroom, he heard about it upon his return. But the best part for us was how the CMs got DS, who is hard to get! Raging Bull brought him out a nice mini chocolate bundt cake, told DS not to touch it till they were all done “sangin’” for him. Man, either there was so much noise that I couldn’t tell what they were singing or they were intentionally being horrible. Well, on the last “…to you” the 4 CMs scooped up DS’s birthday cake and ate every bite of it. The look on DS’s face was priceless! Naturally, they gave him another cake, which he protected with all his might. One of the Cms went to the kitchen and grabbed the biggest wooden spoon I’ve seen, came back and asked DS, “You sure you don’t need any help with that? I brought my own spoon.” DS was chucking so hard, he couldn’t answer…he just protected the cake more. DS said we have to go back to WCC again. It is now one of our favorite places.

Four of us adults...with no children...went to Whispering Canyon for dinner last month. We took later reservations as to not have the din of the room blow our ear drums out, but early enough to have a great time. It's hard to believe that diners in Artist Point can't hear what's going on just down the hall. The place is a lot of fun and the All-You-Care-To-Eat Skillet was great.

Having the right attitude for the restaurant is very important though. We're not a big fan of screaming children running around restaurants, but for some odd reason, it seemed appropriate there...of course...I got my Pony Express Certificate, so who am I to complain.

Been there several times and last week was the latest. It was great as always!!! The kids love the ketchup routine and the pony express. We have always had great food and the bannana cheesecake was too die for!!!

Mixed reviews from our family...

We were there during the free dining plan...it was extremely crowded...the food wasn't very good.. food on the skillet was lukewarm, ribs were undercooked...I think they had trouble managing the crowd that evening.

I enjoyed the antics very much so....hubby performed the "my little buttercup" dance which made up for the food part...the ketchup part was cute, my kids got a big kick out of it...

my 7yr old son hated it & says he will never ever go back. the waitress put the salad on the table and he grabbed for it...she slapped him on his hands! While I guess that was a part of the show, he was in absolute shock and was in tears.

I would still say you should go & try it for yourself...I have gone to places people have hated & loved it & vice versa...

For me I really liked it when I first went to Whispering Canyon Cafe because of the western type characters that they played. It was so funny because our waiter said that he had once met pocahontis!! Then I was only 8 so I believed anything! Now i'm 14 so I still think it's true!

If you go over to the restaurant board and do a search there you'll find dozens of threads on WCC and a gazillion opinions!

Have fun!

just was there a week ago. The food was great, the drinks were great and so was the atmosphere. 5 adults one 17 year old son and (1) 4 yr. old niece and everyone enjoyed it. the 4yr. old is quite shy but she did ask for keeetchup and she got a hoot out of it. my 17 yr. old was made to eat all his broccoli by our waitress, she fed it to him, (got pictures of that :rotfl: :rotfl: )some of us had the all you can eat, but I had the Pork Chops and it was fabbb.... also had the Celebration Dessert.. YUM YUM... It can be loud but thats what makes it fun for the kids.. also by the way the bottomless orange milk shake is to die for....enjoy

LOVE! love love love it! Breakfast is our fave, but lunch and dinner are great too. and the WL is just plain cool to check out.

Dont forget to ask for ketchup.

Thanks guys for all the opinions. I think it sounds fun and something we'll have to do at least once to say we've done it.
I have to admit that I've had several people (and read some other sites) that all mention to ask for ketchup. But no one has said why. I'm kinda scared to now! :goodvibes But I will, I promise. Don't tell me what happens! :ssst:

We've gone there twice now and had a lot of fun each time. It is loud and noisy but well worth it. The interaction with the wait staff is great and the kids get to do some fun things. It has become a "must do" on each trip.

Oh yo guys have got me so excited now!!!! We are staying at WL in January & I can't wait to go to WCC.

Look at post number 722...that should give an idea.... :rotfl2:

we were there the first of Oct. The food was excellent, and it was a fun night -but it all really depends on your server & the crowd there...the antics depend on the crowd..they were pretty mellow that night.
One tip we figured out - we were on the dining plan & all ordered the skillet---well they only brought out 1 skillet & took FOREVER to bring the refills (mashed potatoes were WONDERFUL & there wasn't enough to start with!) ANYWAY the more we thoght about it it was a rip off since we only got 1 refill of ribs/corn/pot...if we had each ordered something different we would have had TONS of more food (you know 1 person get the skillet & the other of us get something else) OF course we were still stuffed, but I'd hate to think if I'd been paying for that meal that it wasn't worth the $$ because of the lack of the all you can eat---does that make sense??

BTW our server said he hates the dining plan 'cause they dont' make any $ off of it...the tips are added in & then they are taxed on the tips & get the tips in a check several days (weeks?) later! Thought that was interesting....

We have a 2:00 ADR there next week. I chose that time because we are headed to MNSSHP at 4:00. Will this be a boring time? I'm afraid there won't be any people there to make it fun.
TIA

We were really looking forward to trying this place but didn't really care for the food or the incredible amount of noise that didn't let up during the whole meal. We had the dining plan too and I think the fact that we had eaten some wonderful meals the week before may have made us less appreciative. However, I doubt we will be back.

I would have been put off if our server told us they hated the dining plan because they didn't make any money off it, although I am sure that is the case.

If I were going to advise anyone, I would definitely tell them to try this restaurant! We were pretty exhausted when we went as well and everyone else seems to really love the place!

We ate there several times last year when we stayed at the WL. My whole family loved it! Especially when daddy had to sing I 'm a little tea pot in front of everyone with all the other dads! :rotfl:

DH and I have an ADR for the last seating at breakfast. DH wouldn't mind the ketchup, but wouldn't be too happy with me if he had to stand up and sing. Is there any way I can convey that to the CM's? I made ressies for the later seating because I was hoping the CM's might be getting tired and it might be more calm by then. Any thoughts?

Didn't see anyone sing a solo while we were there - just several happy b'days (which got old real fast!) They did do a kissing contest for those that were celebrating their anniversary - but only about 3 couples did it & it was done within about 2 mins.
