I haven't read a lot of good things about this restaurant - but we are staying at WL - just wondering if anyone has had a good experience, and suggestions for what to order. Thanks!

It's a fun atmosphere and the food is very good, as long as you like BBQ. Ribs fall off of the bone. Great BBQ sandwich.

We really enjoyed Whispering Canyon Cafe. The food was really good if not exceptional and our waiter (Dusty Trails) was hilarious. The kids really enjoyed it. I'm surprised you haven't read good things...it was one of our better TS choices.

We love the breakfast at the WCC...The food is always done just right and the place is so lively and fun...Everything is good at breakfast time...

The menu is very small for all three meals and some find it difficult to find things they like on the dinner menu...They have changed the menu a bit so my favorites are gone....Just remember the food and place are not fancy...It is all-American....We have had several good meals for lunch and dinner....Lunch atmosphere is a bit quieter...Dinner time is loud (in a good way) and lots of fun.

I think you should go considering you are staying there....We usually eeat af few meals during our stay at the WL...

And don't forget to ask for the ketchup!

It is noisy but fun. Though I wasn't too happy how our waiter treated a couple who were in the seventies. It got to a point where it wasn't funny any longer. A manager had to come out & talk to him. I really don't blame the couple for getting upset as it was way out of line for this CM to act like he did. They took it but after a while they asked him nicely to stop as did the son but he kept it up. Oh well. But we enjoyed breakfast there. If you don't want to join in on the fun tell your waiter & hopefully they will not do it. I know eat somewhere else but a little kidding is fine insulting is not.

The WCC is as much fun as you will allow youself to have. If your not into letting your hair down and acting the fool it may not be for you.

Asa previous poster said about the food, if you are into BBQ then you will like it otherwise choose somewhere else.

PS We went in December with our 2 DD aged 5 and 8 and we all loved it.

My dad liked the skillet. My veggie enchilada was gross and our waitress reeked of cigarettes. We were also way in the back. Never going back, I didn't like the atmosphere anyways. Everyone has a different experience though, and I wanted to try it even though it had negative reviews.

We've been a couple of times... not a place for a quiet meal, but it is fun!

Not sure if you are going with on the dining plan...but.. we've had dinner there and got the bottomless milkshakes for our beverage:love: you can try different flavors since its bottomless..... for the entree we got the skillet:banana: and we were too full for dessert, so we got the fruit plate and it came with yogurt to go... we ran it up to our room (stayed at W.L) and put it in the fridge for breakfast in the A.M.

We eat lunch there at least once every visit. We love it! The food is good and the atmosphere is fun. Go and enjoy!

we have eaten here for dinner and breakfast and enjoyed it both times. the atmosphere for dinner is lively and noisy and the breakfast is generally quieter, much less subdued then dinner but if you ask for strawberry jelly.....you get the ketchup treatment. it was great to see that happen to my wife. we all got such a kick out of that. the dinner and breakfast skillets were both excellent choices for our family. good food and plenty to eat with some fun thrown in. next trup we will return here for sure

A couple things...if you have children. Loud ones at that...this is a great place because it's a fun and loud atmosphere. but, they are somewhat slow. It is a table service meal that will take at least an hour. I am a huge fan of ribs and their ribs are awesome. We've been here countless times since we've stayed at WL 3 times and even went two years ago when we stayed at POFQ.

The atmosphere is fun, the food is good if not great, but they are slow. If you like a joking atmosphere, this is a must. I won't spoil some of the pranks they play on you, but it is truely hilarious.

We've gotten the skillet dinner and skillet breakfast. both are amazing. you can't go wrong and you get the initial platter and then they ask you what you want more of.

We had a late breakfast there and really enjoyed it. The wait wasn't too bad, it was a fun atmosphere and the food was good. We'll be going back in August.:cool1:

Whispering Canyon is a great restaurant. My husband loves the all-you-can-drink milkshakes! Last year we went for the first time and both got the canyon skillet, we returned this year and did the same. The baked beans, chicken, pork, and warm cornbread are all delicious. They also have good orange-strawberry smoothies (although you can't really taste the orange in it). Last year we went with another family and the restaurant was a little loud, but fun for kids. This year they seated us on the outskirts and it was actually relaxed & quiet. The service was also really good this time, kinda rare for a Disney restaurant it seems. ...And don't miss the banana tortilla dessert with ice cream!

ehh - its OK. Nothing to write home about. I'm all for the snark but I just don't "get it" at this place.

My true problem that as a guest of WL, I think they should have some tables reserved for us for b-fast or at least a priority on the wait list. Dinner I can understand that they don't but the b-fast just kills me.

Your only option for b-fast at WL is the chaotic Roarin Fork.

So what is it exactly that the waitors and waitresses do? Everyone talks about the wait staff, but never says why. :confused3

IMO its just stupid stuff, they are trying to be funny and sarcastic, but I just don't get it. Like they are in training to work at Prime Time.

Like when you ask for a straw, they throw them on the table. You ask for ketchup, they shout KETCHUP and everyone who has a bottle of ketchup runs and puts it on your table (granted its cute....ONCE).

I'm as sarcastic as probably anyone I know (my nickname is Carrie Heffernan, we act EXACTLY alike, I even kind even think the similar personalities are comical), but I just don't get the attaction at WC. :confused3

It's all what you prefer as far as the wait staff goes. We thought it was comical. It's DisneyWorld. have some fun! If you're not into that, then don't go there and eat.

To spoil the fun, here are some of the things they do... The straw thing mentioned is one. If you need refills too fast, they bring a big glass mug out for you to drink out of. If you finish that off....then don't be surprised if the wait staff mentions you drinking all that and the potential for accidents later at the park on rides. If you pay by credit card, don't be surprised if they yell at you from the back that your card did actually go through. The ketchup prank is another. It's just goofy stuff.

We have breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe every trip we make to WDW (that's 3-4 times a year). We wouldn't do that if we weren't having a good time.

I once commented to our server that it seemed a bit quiet that day, so she made me get up and lead the whole restaurant in a round of "Hokey Pokey".

Someone in our party finished everything on their plate(it was pretty big too!) and was given a "clean plate award"...it was pretty funny...they made a huge deal about it and brought over his certificate.

I guess it is all in what you like.... we get a kickout out of it and enjoy it.
