Hi all,

We have 2 Character Breakfasts booked at Cape May & Crystal Palace and are now thinking of a dinner ADR.

We like the menu and everything but our son is Autistic and doesn't have a lot of patience for waiting around etc - how quick is the service here? I know it is not a buffet style which is the type we generally go for.

i think if you make an ADR close to the time they begin serving and let the staff know of your son's needs, everything should be fine. i have seen long waits at this restaurant especially later in the mornings and in the evenings. good luck! we really enjoy breakfast at WCC.

I've never eaten @ WCC but have read about the interaction between the servers and the customers. Will your son be affected by a lot of yelling/loud noises? If so, this may not be the best choice.

Possibly, it's difficult to explain but until we book and go we don't know how Josh will react.
We figure if we mention our needs to the CM we will get a quieter table.

JohnnySharp2, definitely mention Josh's needs. they will accomadate as much as possible to make it less stressful on your son.

You know, as a teacher of autistic children you may want to consider another restaraunt. There isn't a quiet place in the restaraunt. There is hoopin' and hollerin' the whole time. Napkin waivin', pony races, screaming for ketchup and people bringing it to your talble like crazy and then taking it from your table and running. Now of course my kids love it, but it may be too much for Joshua, just some advice.

I love the restaurant but a friend from another Disney forum has chosen to give it miss because she doesnt think it would suit her two autistic children. I cant say I blame her as this is a very noisy and unpredictable place. I would seriously rethink your plans on this one.

To be honest, we have done some research and we are aware that it may be noisy at Whispering Canyon.
The problem we have is until we try there is no way of knowing whether Joshua will like it or not, our other ADRs are breakfast bookings at buffet style restaurants Cape May and Crystal Palace.

We rarely eat out at home but just want to try different things on our holiday, we have been to Florida so many times now so the more new things we try the better.

Only you know what's best for your son...give it a go and see what happens. Worse case scenario, you just have them pack your food to go and find a more relaxing place on the property to eat it. Best wishes! :goodvibes

as a social worker and behaviorist who works specifically with autistic children, I would not reccommend WCC for an autistic child. It's very loud, and chaotic and unfortunately, telling a server you want a quiet table will NOT get you one and sometimes such a request makes sure you will get the most obnoxious waiter WCC has...also, this place is KNOWN for picking at kids who don't want to be a part of the antics.

I'd pick a place with a buffet!!

well i love whispering canyon but one thing to consider is the noise level with the games. my brother is autistic & the going on's at wcc was too much for him on our large family visit.
