my niece and i are going in august and staying at the wilderness lodge. we've never been to whispering canyon and i was thinking we might do dinner there one night. is it worth it?

i have never been to whispering canyon but am trying it this year it looks really good it has ribs chicken corn bread and lots of other food

As PP said, you will get tons of mixed opinions on this restaurant.

We love WCC. It is DH's favorite place to eat while at WDW. He loves the all you can eat BBQ skillet.
I get the ribeye which is very good.
Our experiences have been the food is very tasty and all the meats tender, no fatty ribs, or steak.

I say take a look at the menu and if you like somethings on it, then go. You won't know if "YOU" won't like it unless you try it.

If you are staying there, I would say go. They have great milkshakes and desserts. You will get missed reviews about the skillet, but the chicken is very good.

I agree with everyone on the mixed reviews....I have eaten there several times, had the skillet and also the ribeye (not that the same time of course...lol)....I found both very good....but my husband...said meh!!....even gets a mixed review in my house.

My theory on restaurants at Disney and in general, if the food looks good try it once, you may love it, if not you have tired it and can knock it off your list, and try something else next time!!

well, right now all my table service meals are accounted for. so in order to go there, we would have to get rid of breakfast at kona cafe. but..we have concierge so most of our breakfasts will be spent there. i'll give it some more thought and ask my niece about it.

she doesn't know that i made the reservations yet. i'm telling her later tonight. :P she's waiting to hear about her school school schedule for the late summer/early fall because she will have orientation for her freshman year in high school. hopefully its at the end of august. :P

My family went there for the 1st time in February. The atmosphere was great. We went for my daughter's 3rd birthday and we all had a really good time. Our waitress, "Blondie", was really into her part without intimidating the kids.

As for the food, it was alright. We all got the skillet. I think that the ribs and chicken are better at Flame Tree BBQ. The salad had way too much dressing on it. None of us cared for the beans. DH really enjoyed the bottomless milkshakes. We tried them all. The kids and I loved the cornbread and the corn. I enjoyed the pulled pork. It was moist without being fatty. As for dessert, I did not care much for the apple pie or the pecan pie (mine at home is much better :)). The kids enjoyed chocolate chip cookies.

DH would like to go back some day and not order the skillet. I imagine that we will. I feel that it is a restaurant that you should definitely try at least one. If nothing else, it is a good time.

^^ this is what i'm thinking. my niece and i enjoy the fun atmosphere places to eat too. so far, our table services meals are:

Yak & Yeti
Teppan Edo
Narcoossee's (for wishes!)
Kona Cafe
Sci-fi Diner

after 10 trips there are a lot of places we've already eaten at...so we're trying new things this time. we did have breakfast at kona cafe..so i think i'll switch it out for whispering canyon!

thanks!!

We enjoyed the food there. I thought pretty much everything I had in the skillet tasted pretty good.

We have eaten there twice. Both times having the skillet. We both enjoy the food and the atmosphere. The kids also enjoyed it. My husband and the kids had to sing happy birthday to themselves in front of everyone! It was hysterical. :rotfl2:

We just ate there three weeks ago - loved it! The atmosphere is so fun! Make sure you ask for napkins and ketchup! We thought the food was good and milkshakes were yummy...had the best waitress too (I can't remember her name right now...that will be driving me crazy!)

Husband and I had a date night at Narcoossee's - So Yummy! I had the Surf/Turf and he had Turf - Our favorite part was the cheese potatos though!

Makes me ready to go back again already! Have a great time!

DBF and I ate there last September and we both really enjoyed it. We both had the ribeye steak and loved it. The desserts were fabulous. We also had the BBQ pork egg roll appetizer and it was amazing! DBF specifically asked that we go back to WCC this year. He would've eaten there every night if he had the choice! :thumbsup2

This is my family's favorite place to eat. We don't go to Disney without eating there. We always get the skillet for the whole family. My DH loves bbq anyway, my DS6 loves the chicken (and has since he was 3), and even my DD8 who doesn't eat ANYTHING out - meals are always such a pain with her- doesn't even complain about the food because she loves the atmosphere so much. They both love the ketchup thing they do and all of the other antics, and especially the pony rides around the tables. Me, I just love that everyone agrees on one restaurant, and my DH isn't freaked out the whole time about my kids bothering anyone. The food is really good too. My fav is the cornbread. Your experience will vary based upon your waiter and how busy the are.

for us no it wasn't. We did it two weeks ago and it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. I will be doing a trip and dining report this week with detailed comments and cost break downs. Our attitude at this point is been there done that. However I totally want to stay at the Wilderness Lodge it is gorgeous!!!!

If you are staying there I would definitely eat there one time. We too are staying in August and because i didnt get to try last time have two ressies there. I couldnt see staying there and not trying it.

When we stayed at WL we ate there a few times, the food was good but not outstanding, I would not go there if I was staying at another resort.

I'd go!

WCC is a fun restaurant and I've always enjoyed the food. We definitely go if staying at WL and sometimes we'll go even if staying elsewhere. If you're looking for a quiet place to eat, then I'd say it isn't the place, but otherwise, go for it!
