Whispering Canyon Cafe - Skillet

So you and hubby both order the skillet and then you order another meal too? Just curious as the skillet is charged per person. If you both eat off of it, you both have to pay for it. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you.

:dancer: Ya, I'd like to know too.....can you clarify?

Nope, we only order one skillet and then a second entree off the menu.

The very first time we were at WCC in 2002 I could not make up my mind between the skillet and the pulled pork sandwich from the lunch menu. When I asked our waitress for her opinion, SHE was the one that mentioned ordering the skillet for hubby and the sandwich for me and then said, " ... and you guys can just share both!" We have done it ever since, always being upfront about it, and it has never been a problem. I think that if we went in and only tried to order one skillet and nothing else then there would be a problem.

Does that make a bit more sense? Sorry that my first post was confusing.

We tried WCC for the first time 8/8. DH & I had the skillet. He loved it all. My favorite was the mashed potatoes. DS11 had a burger & said it was great. After reading about it I was disappointed to see a bottle of ketsup sitting on our table when we arrived since DS was having fries. Our waiter was good but way more quiet than the female waitresses. He did have a good sense of humor though. It was a very enjoyable experience.

If your DH likes food like mine does, you might want to schedule him some alone time back at the resort while you enjoy the pool....if you get my drift :lmao:

JENNIE...Thanks for the clarification. That sounds like a great plan...but like you, I think I'd ask the waitress first about it just so I didn't feel guilty eating off his plate. That's awsome to know! THANKS!

I went to WCC the first year the WL opened and the skillet back then included smoked beef brisket, leg of lamb, a smoked rotisserie chicken and ribs, along with corn, salad bar (yes, they had one), beans and rolls...

Back in the day it was fantastic...

I had the prime rib:

and my dairy allergic son had dairy free chicken:

Could someone list what is on the skillet meal today?

I recall an apple flavored sausage, but can't see it in the picture.

To my knowledge...the skillet has ribs, chicken, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and baked beans. I also believe you get corn bread early.

The breakfast skillet has waffle cones, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy.

I believe allears.net has menus for the meals...

This may be a silly question . . . can you order the skillet as your meal if you're on the dining plan?

Thanx!

You could when we were on the plan in 2007 ... don't know if it has changed this year, though.

OK I'll admit it, I am not a WC or a skillet fan.

With that being said, I LOVE Wilderness Lodge. I won't stay anywhere else anymore because I love the resort that much.

But for the food, nope, we did the skillet and it was just too much meat for me. ;)

So when we are there in 3 weeks, I have ADRs for everywhere BUT Whispering Canyon.

There are just so many better restaurants.

Anywhere else, you'd recommend, that has bbq ribs, chicken etc? We love BBQ type foods...but I'm not paying or using 2TS to go to Mickey's backyard BBQ. haha ORRR is it worth it for kids???
