I was wondering the samething. We have a 4:45 ressie at WCC on Sept. 20th for dinner.:confused3

We also have a 4:35 for WCC in late August. I know of other folks with a 4:15 for Garden Grill, which also says it doesn't open until 5. Same for 'Ohana, so I agree it's probably a free dining thing to allow for more availablility.

Since free dinning is so pouplar they open places earlier not just WCC.
WCC IS FUN.

In all my trips to WDW, I've never been here.

I've always heard it is fun and things happen with the wait staff. Can someone tell me what goes on there.

I'm still working on a dining reservation for my DD's 18th birthday and looking for a "fun" place that's not geared toward young kids.

For me it was a fun place; some people feel it is a little over the top. They will have kids run around the restaurant with stick ponies in a race. Even though they have the kids run around it is still a lot of fun for families or those with older kids to watch. Ask for ketchup(you have to do this) and you will have dozens of bottles brought to your table; they are brought to you by the last table that asked for ketchup. Then when someone else asks for it, you have to run it over to them. Your server when giving you a straw may throw a dozen or so on your table; the same thing can happen with receiving napkins. You may even be called up to sing happy birthday, or some other silly song.

All in all the place is pretty fun. Be warned it can get a little loud in there. As for food, it is ok. It was not terrible(some would say it is) but it was not great. I would go back again, but it would not be one of my first choices.

But with that, go experience it yourself, and make your own conclusions.

Thanks for your reply, it is helpful.

Just not sure what to do. The atmosphere sounds about right for what DD wants, but she also has a requirement for the food to be good. Imagine.:confused3 One of the reasons, we've never gone is the very mixed reviews. She really does want to have a "good" birthday dinner so I'm just torn about what to do.

I've learned to never listen to the reviews. I almost didn't make an adr for Ohana back in January because of a so called food critic; I'm glad I did not listen to the bafoon, we loved the place.

If you like bbq you should still like WCC. It was not the best I've ever had, but then again, I've never had the best of steak, seafood, chicken, or any other dish in any WDW restaurant. Some were excellent, some good, some fair, but I've never had a "best ever" in Disney.

I don't know if you've ever been to Tepan Eddo, which is a Japanese Steakhouse in Epcot, or Ohana. Both of these restaurants I really enjoyed the food, and they were a lot of fun as well.

I have been to 'Ohana a number of times but with the kids now being 14 and 18 (and another 18 y/o) with us, we have about worn out the "coconut races and hula hoop" if you know what I mean? We were looking for something fun but more of something that the teens would like versus a 6 year old.

As for Teppan Edo, that one seems to get consistently bad reviews but, like you, I do tend to ignore if we really want to try something. We have so many options in our home town for Japanese steak house type stuff (plus I've lived in Japan for 4 years) that it might be a disappointment.

We actually spend most of our time doing signature dining (Citricos, Artist Point) but those places aren't overly "fun" or bustling enough for a birthday.

The food at WCC looks like it would be okay. We don't get a lot of great barbeque here in Northern VA so we are certainly not BBQ snobs!:cutie: I might not notice if it was bad (although I do think the ribs at Hoop Dee Doo are pretty bad). Do you think these are better?

DH and I were at WC the other day. He had the pork with mango chutney and I had the whiskey maple glazed trout, and both were surprisingly good. I've noticed that if you don't have kids with you, they tend to seat you out back where it is less insane (not that the insanity bothers us...we like it). This time we were sat just outside of the main area, in front of the fireplace, which was very neat (and ironic since it was nearly 100 degrees outside). They did mess around with some...server throwing straws and napkins at us, and we were accidentally brought ketchup (the table across from us had asked). The nacho chip appetizer was really good too...overall, the food was better than usual IMO.
