We'll be at Disney the end of this month and we were planning on going to RC with our DD11 one night for dinner but after looking at the menu at allears and reading some reviews on here about the service and the food I think we'll skip it (even my DD isn't impressed with the menu and doesn't care now if we eat somewhere different). We were thinking about WCC...what's the atmosphere like and is the food good? Any other suggestions?

The atmosphere at WCC is definitely a hoot. The food is good, better than RC IMHO. They have a skillet that gives you a variety of foods.....chicken, BBQ, ribs, corn, garlic mashed potatoes, cornbread and some other things as well. We get this most times, but they have a varied menu.

It is a fun place to eat. I understand the desserts are very good but we are usually stuffed so we havent gotten them yet.

you can eat at Rain Forest Cafe in many cities, but you can't get a Whispering Canyon Cafe anywhere but at Disney World.

I was not as impressed with WCC as I had hoped, but I think our waitress wasn't that great.

I've been to both. We like the atmosphere in RC but enjoyed WCC so much better. The interaction at WCC was better.. enjoed the resort theming and the food better. Both are excellent choices though.

We have done RC 3 times and WC once.As far as I am concerned Whispering Canyon has a far better atnosphere and we preferred the food too.

Thanks for all the input - I think we'll definitely try WCC instead!!

RE: WCC Don't hesitate to politely request yr type of server. We are a more 'retiring' (ie boring! )family, so we enjoy the more reserved waitstaff. I don't see DH participating in the 'pony' races anytime real soon! :rotfl:
But if you want in on all the hijinx, don't hesitate to ask for a 'rowdy' server--if it isn't terribly jammed they will try to accommodate you! You'll love it!

Count me as one more vote for WCC! We have RC at a mall here in our town, and I was not impressed, can't imagine it as a special meal at WDW :confused3

You should go to one of the threads in here that has pictures of food at WDW. The pics from WCC are great. It looks like a lot of fun. After reading the reviews and seeing the pics, I changed one of our dinners to WCC.

We ate at both a couple of weeks ago. We enjoyed both, BUT WCC is better for the food we think. RFC has a really nice atmosphere and we had a great server, but I wouldn't necessarily go there for a "special" meal. Don't get me wrong they had a great orange margarita :) but I'd probably opt for the WCC over RFC---just because it's so...."different". And if you love BBQ--definitely go!!

Whispering Canyon is GREAT, as long as you realize what you're getting into.

The food there is great... just make sure to request ketchup. :rolleyes1 :teeth:  :cool1:

Bartoli - I spotted the thread this afternoon that had pictures of the food at WCC....that's all I needed to make up my mind!!
We love BBQ food so I'm sure this will be the place for us and I've read about the antics that go on so we'll be well prepared (although I think I'll be vague when explaining the antics to my DH and DD so I can see the look on their faces when we ask for the ketchup!!) :rotfl2: Thanks all for your replies!!

Yet another vote for WCC. Plus, you can't beat the atmosphere of the Lodge itself- you will be impressed!

We ate at both. I would never go back to Rainforest. I was not impressed at all. However, we had a hoot at Whispering Canyon. We yelled for ketchup and had straws thrown at us and all. The kids left with the napkin as a bandana around their heads and straws in the back of it. We loved it. I highly recommend it. ENJOY!!!! :cool1: :rotfl2:
