We are going to Disney over christmas and are arriving on Saturday Dec. 24th. By the time we get settled, we won't have time to do much but eat dinner. I made reservations for the Whispering canyon cafe but I am having second thoughts. Since it's expensive I want to make sure that we will enjoy it. Any other thoughts on restaurants that we might enjoy that is at either downtown disney or at a hotel? My kids are 7 and 3. Boy/girl. Thanks.

Check out the menu on WDW so you have an idea of the food. If the food sounds good, this is a nice spot, especially for the kids! Mine really enjoyed the antics and we all liked the food.

Are you staying at WL? If so, definitely keep this ADR. If not, you might enjoy eating at your own resort so you don't have to travel anywhere.

Are you staying at the WL? That makes it convenient and worth it to go there. The wait staff is pretty entertaining. The food is decent. We try to go once a trip.
If you are looking for something a little less expensive, maybe try Wolfgang Puck Express at Downtown Disney. It is considered a counter service but has plenty of seating.

The food is usually pretty good -our kids LOVE it. They are older now(18 and 14) but still talk about some of the crazy things that go on there. My friends kids didn't enjoy it, they are a little more shy so it was a bit much for them. I would go, especially if you will be staying there.

we liked it for lunch... but if you're not staying there--- you may just want to stay around your resort and relax :)

WL is beautiful at Chrismas time!! We love WCC. Just ate there 4 days ago :). We've always liked the food, but our waitress was telling us that they are in the process of changing their menu...............

As long as getting there and back is not going to be cutting into park time, I say keep it. It's a fun restaurant and the food is good. And although I've nver been to the World during the holidays, like others have said, the WL is supposed to be gorgeous at Christmas time.

we ate there last week- had the skillet. The meat was all dry-our lunch at flame tree had better meat. The potatoes were good as so was the corn bread, desserts were good but not worth the price

I LOVE the antics at Whispering canyon and the atmosphere is wonderful. After dinner its fun to walk around the lodge... BUT, the last few times I've been there the food has been ok...I always get the skillet. Maybe Iam just not that hungry ?? It has always been on my list of places that are a must do.. but last two trips.. I skipped it and moved onto my new desire... Breakfast at KONA !!!

If you've never been to whispering canyon.. GO ! It will sure to be a good time. Don't forget the Ketchup....:lmao:

Can someone fill me in - what goes on here that is out of the ordinary? we have res. here for our trip in a few weeks. I guess I don't know what we're in for!

My DS9 and my very quiet don't bother me husband LOVE this place. I almost cancelled the first year and ended up booking a second dinner there on our last night. Now it is one of our must dos. They antics r a blast.. ask for ketchup and u get 12-27 bottles, ask for a straw and u get a handful tossed at u. Want a drink refill you may end up with a glass big enough to quench the thirst of the jolly green giant. Add stick ponies and the jokier pokier to this and you have a blast. Don't forget the bottomless milkshakes which count as a drink on the dining plan...the waitress told my son she would keep bringing them until he tried every flavor if he wanted as long as he promised to make it to the bathroom if he was gonna get sick.

We've been to WCC 3 times. Never had any 'antics' happen other than a few straws thrown on the table. The food was good (standard, "I could make this at home" type good, not great by any means). One of our servers downright forgot about us twice, we were seated out on the back porch away from the main room waiting about half an hour just for him to bring drinks - but saw him whooping it up in the main area of the dining room. When he came back to us he had a total "I just don't want to be here" attitude - hopefully he was moved on to another job. The last time we had a fantastic server who was very friendly and helpful, but not big on the antics - loved that visit. The first visit was very much the same as our last one. Good food, nice server - sit back and watch the antics go on around us, but not for us... not that I'm complaining as I don't like the spotlight :)

My recommendation, If you go, do not go expecting to be part of the fun. Go expecting to see a beautiful resort and get some decent food. Anything beyond that is a bonus :)

We've had breakfast, lunch and dinner at WCC and enjoyed them all. We had dinner there on our last trip. I almost didn't go; I'd had an upset stomach all day and didn't really think I could eat, but I love the WL, so I went anyway. I went ahead and got the skillet since we were on the DDP, and LOVED the roasted chicken. It was moist and delicious. I was so glad I hadn't skipped dinner!

If you're staying at WL, I recommend staying there to eat your first night. The buses to/from DTD can take forever. We took that bus exactly once and it took close to an hour to get to DTD since it went by way of the Grand Floridian. Never again. If you are arriving late and want a relaxing evening, stick close by and stay at WL for dinner. Go out on the beach about 9:30 and watch the Electrical Water Pageant. It's one of my favorite things!

We loved the Whispering Canyon Cafe. The pork egg roll thingies were great and the skillets were good too. I think your kids might like it.

I think it would probably be worth it if you're staying at WL. We usually stick pretty close to our resort for our arrival day. Also, I'm not sure but WCC might have a special menu (i.e. no skillets) on 24 Dec. I know it was that way for dinner on Christmas when we looked into going.

You mention that the bottomless milkshake is on the DDP (YUM!)...do you know if the Canyon Skillet all-you-care-to-eat is an option of the DDP???
