we are considering dinner at WCC and then going to the campfire at FW afterward. This is for our first night at resorts and we will not have park passes this day. I have two DDs ages 11 and just shy of 7 at trip time. Thanks for your opinions or any other suggestions for this evening. (We already have Boma and O'Hana planned for another night when family will be there too)

Can't comment on the campfire but Whispering Canyon is one of our favorites. I think your plan is a great idea for the first night.

Sounds like a great idea, and a nice way to start your vacation.-- I first went to FW and the campfire when I was a Girl Scout in the mid-1970's (now I feel REALLY old). I'm sure your DD's will love it.
Thumbs up on Boma, too. My DH and I went there a few weeks ago and enjoyed it.

does anyone know if it's walking distance from WCC to the campfire??

We really enjoyed Whispering Canyon when we were there last month. Your kids will love it. There is a walking path from Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness, we took the boat because we were told that the dear flies were really bad on the path.

The boat brings you to Fort Wilderness, then you can either walk or take a bus to the Campfire.
