Alright, let me cut to the chase. We will be spending a week at WDW 5/7-5/14. We are staying at SOG the 7th-13th. The night of the 13th, we will be driving my kids to my mom's (lives in Orlando) and then DH and I will be spending the night alone. We thought we would spend our time in the WS and the Boardwalk. We have decided on this so that we could utilize one of the Epcot resorts and not have to drive anywhere (or take transport) late at night, especially after consuming a few Margaritas in Mexico. :earboy2:

So here is the question. We were thinking of staying at either BWI or Swan/Dolphin. If we decide on Swan/Dolphin, which would be better? We don't really care about the pools b/c we probably won't be using them, except maybe hot tubs. Basically, it all comes down to cost. If we can get a good rate at BWI, then we will stay there, but if not, we can get a gov. rate at Swan/Dolphin. Ok, now I am just rambling. Please help.

We have only stayed at the swan. It just seems a little more compact and not so spread out. It is a little more than the dolphin and the beds are queen sized if you dont request a king. Also I think its a much shorter walk back to your room. We always ask for a room closer to the elevator anyway. Its also the 1st bus stop if you are planning to use them during your stay.

The Swan.

I've only stayed at the Swan but I walked around the Dolphin, went to Tubbi's and all. Although the Dolphin has a bigger, more themed lobby area I prefer the calm, soft colors, and intimate feeling at the Swan.

They are very close together so it's not much of a walk to go over to the restaurants at the Dolphin.

Good luck with your decision and have fun :)

My wife and I both prefer the Dolphin. I thought the staff was much better at the Dolphin, always asking if there was something they could do when you walked by. The staff at the Swan looked half asleep. We enjoyed the restaurants at the Dolphin - particularly Fresh for breakfast. When we stayed at the Swan and needed business services - something printed out - they directed us to the Dolphin.

Also, on check in at the Swan, they asked if we had stayed there before. We said no, but we had stayed across the street at the Dolphin. The desk clerk made a face and said "Oh, you mean the 'Catfish'?" I kind of gave him a puzzled look then finally got it (the fishes on the building look like catfish). It would have been fine if he'd have left it at that little tease, but he continuted to take shots at the Dolphin and it's staff. It wasn't really what I wanted to hear when checking in for a vacation at WDW.

Bell services at both were excellent. I'd say it's probably a toss up, but my experience tells me that you'll have a more pleasant stay at the D. Either way, have a great time!
