Thanks guys for voting... this isnt just for me but I wanted to see what everyone thought of in terms of Resorts. We have stayed at the Poly CL with a terrific discount code (40%) so that was totally worth it... we have done POR with DxDP and that was fun too... we have never stayed value.. they dont appeal to us as they dont feel like a resort to our family. When we wanna stay at a Disney resort, the pool, grounds and the theming make a difference.

I always stay at a mod or rent points for DVC unless I can find an awesome deal on a deluxe.

I made my first Mod stay this year after only doing Deluxes before - found out that I really liked POFQ and will happily stay there again. Admittedly, I don't use the pools, and for me the biggest perk of Deluxe is the location (love the walk from BC to Epcot). But honestly I'm mostly a park commando. I still can't bring myself to stay at a Value - I'm concerned it would be too busy and hectic and too many tour/sports/youth groups staying.

Go deluxe. We are Beach Club all the way. The location is perfect, and the atmosphere feels like home and vacation all at the same time. We love it!

I say deluxe. I pondered the same decision as the op. Back in December I booked the CSR with the DDP. A few months later I decided to splurge a bit and go with the DxDP instead. Then a few days ago I decided to once again splurge some more and changed from the CSR to the WL. For me, value is not even up for consideration (no offense to those who love the values). The moderates are a very nice compromise, but for a few dollars more, I couldn't pass up the one resort I know and love so well: The Wilderness Lodge.

oh I agree:goodvibes

I'm cheap... but I love my sleep.

So I voted for the mods.

When I stay value, the room size is fine, the resorts are fun and the crowds at the food court doesn't bother me. But I hear EVERYTHING! It stinks when your trying to sleep and you hear everything that's going on around you. I had to download an app for some white noise this past trip. And we were even on the 3rd floor facing the lake.

When I stay at a mod, I hear nothing. Not even the neighbors, and I don't even know if we had any, it was that quiet. The pools are fun and the food court, a little better.

I have stayed deluxe, and if you have the extra $$$, go for it!

Deluxe! I stayed at a value last month for my 12th trip in the past 12 years. The last time I stayed value was my family's first trip in 2001. Since 2005 we have mostly stayed deluxe, with a few mods sprinkled in there. After this trip, I told DH " not again!" I want to feel like I'm on vacation even when I'm at my resort. I just didn't get that feeling during this past trip.

Personally I think a moderate is a great compromise. We don't like value, but love deluxe, however we only stay deluxe when there is a good discount. Moderate resorts are more reasonably priced and they are far more like 'deluxes' than 'values' in my opinion.

Then again, we pay a lot for flights and so couldn't justify just paying for value and not enjoying ourselves as much as we would in a moderate or deluxe resort.

We are the same, love both moderates and deluxe. If I get a great discount I'll stay deluxe, otherwise we are happy at POR.

Not a fan of values. I will stay in one for our first night, but wouldn't want to for entire trip. I like having a little more space, and quiet.

Of your three options I voted for a Moderate. We are not fans of the Values, but the Deluxes are not worth what Disney charges now days. I wished you had listed 'Other' as a third option though.

Last fall we discovered offsite and I can't see us ever going back onsite. I was one who said I would never stay offsite. I'd stay home first. However, just a few weeks out from our Oct/Nov trip a coworker offered me a week at Westlake Town Center in a one bedroom condo for just $400.00. It was just too good of a deal to pass up, so we canceled the CBR reservation we already had booked and decided to give offsite one try. We loved the peace and quiet of the condo and having all that extra space at a Deluxe resort. As soon as we came back, I canceled the WDW resort I had booked for our May trip and started looking for offsite options. I then discovered how cheap Wyndham Bonnet Creek timeshares were, if you went through a third party. I got a one bedroom deluxe for $895.00 for ten nights (and found out later I could have gotten it even cheaper). We tried Bonnet Creek for the first time and fell in love. After making several trip a year down there and staying onsite, we finally found our resort home. Last month I went ahead and booked a one bedroom at Bonnet Creek for eight nights in Sept for $595.00 and then again for ten nights in Dec for just $600.00. For an average of about $66.00 per night I can get a fully equipped one bedroom condo with full size appliances, washer/dryer, two TVs, seperate bedroom/living room area, dining area, king size bed, walk in shower, jacuzzi tub at a Deluxe resort with six very nice swimming pools, several pool slides, multiple hot tubs, two lazy rivers, and free mini golf course that is still within the Disney gates for less than I would pay for just a Value resort through WDW. We like renting a car and have annual passes, so park parking is free anyway. There is no way we will pay $300.00 for a so called Deluxe room at WDW when we can get a much bigger (and much nicer) one bedroom condo for around $70.00/night and be just as close as alot of the WDW resorts. My Sept trip is a solo trip and I really don't need or want the space of a one bedroom condo, but I can't see paying more for a WDW Value resort than what I can get a one bedroom condo at Bonnet Creek for. At BC I would be closer than the value resorts to all the parks, except AK.

Why pay more for less? For my Sept trip a one bedroom villa at BC is costing me $595.00 (74.00/night---and we're paying just $60.00/night for a one bedroom for our Dec trip). I just checked the WDW site for the prices for a basic standard room at a Value, Moderate, and a Deluxe for my dates. With taxes, a standard room at Pop is $1039. ($130.00 per night), a standard room at POFQ is $1635. ($204/night), and a basic room at WL (one of the cheaest Deluxe resorts is $2623 ($328/night). Even for a solo trip where I'm not in the room much it makes alot more sense to pay $74.00 per night for a bigger, nicer one bedroom villa at a nicer resort than $130., $204., or $328./night for one of WDW values, moderates, or deluxes. Having a washer and dryer in the room, makes it so easy to just toss a load in in the morning and then put them in the dryer when you come in, allowing us to easily use just carryons, saving on baggage fees also.

For a week, we wouldn't be comfortable in a value room. We also wouldn't pay the rate for a deluxe unless there was a significant discount. So if I wasn't using DVC, we'd be paying for a moderate. We have always felt comfortable at mods and the price is usually pretty reasonable.

We have stayed at all levels and GREATLY prefer values. We DO do a few days at the beginning at a deluxe - just to enjoy the hotel (swim, eat, resort activities) but I would never pay deluxe or even mod prices on a hotel where I am just using the bed and shower. I am way too frugal for that.

Values provide us with what we need - bed, bath, pool to cool off in, food court, great busses. Why (for us) would we pay $$$ for the same services *and most deluxes apparently have bad bussing...* when we are content where we are?

I voted for Mod, but if there was an awesome Deluxe discount, I'd upgrade! We're staying at AoA this Sept, and I'm a little nervous. I haven't done a Value for 10 yrs, and I swore I'd never go back. :confused3
