I keep going back and forth on my hotel choice and I'm not sure which one I should leave it at. I'm planning a birthday week long trip in May with my boyfriend. It'll be our last Disney trip for a while. We've decided not to renew our annual passes so we can take trips elsewhere without feeling obligated to go to Disney all the time. Since I'm not sure when we'll be back I want to make it a trip to remember.

So originally I booked the one-bedroom villa theme park view at Bay Lake Tower, but the room is crazy expensive. I played around with dates but they all seem to be the same price every night. So I switched it to the Contemporary theme park view room. But I'm worried with this choice. What if we get the room at the very end away from Magic Kingdom, will we still be able to see the fireworks at night? Also this way I'm pretty sure I won't get a king bed since I never get that request. I was thinking of maybe doing a split stay, but I wouldn't want to do that until after the 180 window so I can book my entire weeks worth of restaurants. Which by then could potentially have the room being unavailable to switch to.

Should I leave the reservation as is at the Contemporary?

We love both resorts and you can't go wrong with either. Watching the fireworks from the comfort of your room is a wonderful experience.

Have you considered renting points for BLT?

I would go with BLT just like it better, its all preference.

Contemporary TPV. Any TPV room you will be able to see fireworks from. Ask to be near elevator. That way they'll place you towards middle

I have, I calculated it and it would save a bit of money but would still come out more expensive than the Contemporary. I just like the cash stays because I can cancel them up to 5 days before and get a full refund. I've already changed the dates of this trip once so it could happen again and I don't like that when you rent points you're locked in and could lose everything if we did need to cancel.

It is an awesome hotel it's why I'm having such a hard time deciding

Thanks! That's good to know. The last time I stayed at the Contemporary we were on the Bay Lake view side and had a room directly in front of the elevators, but I never heard any noise. It was a good location. So if we did end up at the very end away from Magic Kingdom we could still see the fireworks?

Just so you know. There currently is only one Bay Lake Tower. Not plural. Should they decide to tear down the South wing building and built another tower, it could be part of DVC and they rename it Bay Lake Towers (One and Two),

For some reason I thought the name was Bay Lake Towers, I guess I always just mispronounced it lol. Thanks for letting me know :)

How many people are you bringing? Do you need a one bedroom at BLT, or can you get away with a studio for less money? I don't think either choice is wrong. We love The CR so much that we became DVC members with BLT as our home resort. I'd go with whatever option saves you money.

FYI, when we used to stay at The CR, I'd request highest floor, close to the MK side. We had some fabulous views from there.

It'll just be me and my boyfriend, so we technically don't need all the space. I just love that the one-bedrooms come with a king bed. I like my space when sleeping and have kicked my boyfriend out of bed when we are in a room with two queens before. I wish the deluxe had more king room options to actually book one, but the Contemporary doesn't have a category for that. And Disney has never given me the king bed I request so I figure if we stay at the Contemporary we will definitely be in a room with two queens. It's not the end of the world, but this will be our last trip for a while so I want to make sure I really like the room. We go back to the room during the hot afternoons to relax so a good room is important to us.

It's a mistake lots of people make, even me at the beginning.

Since you brought it up, people throwing a gratuitous "s" on the end of things is a small pet peeve of mine. It's not "Kroger's," it's not "'Ohanas," etc. I wouldn't say anything about it, but since it's out there, I feel better getting that off my chest. :D It's definitely my problem and not theirs.

Getting back on topic, I'd vote for CR TPV, too.
