Which would you pick Whispering Canyon Cafe or Coral Reef?

Whispering Canyon is a wonderful family restaurant; the mood is extremely festive!! If you have meat-eaters, this is the place for you!!! If you need a place that is serene, calm and relaxing, Coral Reef is the place to go. The food is wonderful at both.

I have two children ages 5 and 8 and they love the WC. They make us go their every year--The food is what it is, but the atmosphere is electric. It is a fun vacation place to go and I love the atmosphere of the resort.

I really do not get when people say they food is so bad at the WCC...It is not fancy...The food is simple and the menu is small...You need to know that going in...But the food is not bad...We have been several times over the past several years...We do enjoy breakfast the most because the food is very yummy at breakfast time...Lunch and dinner are good...I agree the food is nothing to write home about...But I am just so confused by the people that think it is bad...

On the other hand...I think the atmosphere is something to write home about...We love the setting of the lodge...We enjoy the servers...And we love the lively atmosphere, especially with kids...We do not have to remind the boys every two minutes to keep their voices down like we do at most other places...They are free to laugh, sing and be happy in a fun place...They have enjoyed their meals each time they have been and so have we...

One time I had a dessert that was not great...It was not bad...It just was not what I expected...One bad item out of several visits is not a bad average...

This is just my thoughts and please do not flame me...I just don't get the really harsh words about the food :confused3

Just because someone's opinion isn't the same as yours doesn't make them wrong. It is an *opinion*and I may express mine as long as I am allowed to post. Life would be pretty dull if we all had exactly the same POV.

Why don't I like the food at WCC? Everything was dried out or fatty. And sometimes both things at once. You know it's not good when your carb-loving kids say even the cornbread is too dry to enjoy. We always love the milkshakes though. Desserts are blah. We've only ever gotten dinner and usually have gotten the skillet. If I were staying at WL, I would be willing to to give breakfast at WCC a go.

I don't need fancy food and am actually not picky at all. But I need food that tastes good. And there are many, many places at WDW that please my taste buds more. End of story.

We did both on our first trip and with our upcoming trip, I am sure we will be doing both again. DH has already said he wants to go to WCC. We are going to let our DDs pick one restaurant a piece and I have a feeling my oldest will pick CR just for the aquarium. Both had excellent food. WCC is a lot of fun. CR was quiet but the aquarium is amazing. It really all depends on your children and what you think they will like.

We tried WCC last week and absolutely loved it. Of course, we are huge BBQ people, but just liked the whole atmosphere. We were seated right next to the main dining room and DS kept getting up to see the action.

Guess we lucked out because we had a wonderful server who made it lots of fun.

But that "all you care to eat platter", I can't wait to go eat it again. I think we have a new favorite restaurant!
