Which would you pick from these options?

Hi all! I am starting to plan for an upcoming trip. I haven't been to WDW since 2019 and I miss it so much. Not sure of which specific month I plan to go but I am thinking January or February 2022. I am thinking of the following 3 resorts: Pop, POFQ or maybe even Swan/Dolphin. It will be 2 adults - first trip without the kids. We are on a budget so can't really go to a deluxe resort this time. Which would you pick of the 3? Thanks so much!!!

I would keep in mind the semi-recent changes to the busses at Swan and Dolphin - they use Mears, not Disney. So at Magic Kingdom, they drop off at the Transportation and Ticket Center and then you need to take the ferry or monorail. I've also heard that busses can be less frequent.

Plus side is that you can walk to Epcot and HS!

I vote POFQ or Swan/Dolphin. Pop is cute, but I know as an adult I prefer a more laid back, relaxing theme. I don't particularly need a 30 ft Lady and the Tramp statue. Both of the other resorts have better restaurant and bar options, and quieter pools to hang out at (as a note for POFQ, you might need to walk to Riverside for the smaller pools). Plus they both have alternate transportation options to the parks or Disney Springs. That all being said, if you are planning on being in the parks from rope drop to close, and will only be using the hotel to sleep in, you might want to save the money and just do Pop.

I would probably go Swan/Dolphin - it'll have more of the deluxe feel, better/more dining options, plus access to the Boardwalk and the ability to walk to both Epcot and HS. The bus situation for MK I've heard isn't great because of having to go to the TTC - but honestly, I would probably just get the bus to/from the Boardwalk those days if that was a concern.

POFQ is very quiet, has a great QS food court, decent pool (POR is better IMHO on all accounts). You will be on a bus to get to any of the parks.
Swan/Dolphin has great walk-to access to 2 of the parks, nice pool, I think OK QS? The walk is not long to Boardwalk or Beach Club.

Are you driving? Then I would go with POFQ. Big price difference - go with the cheaper option. No kids - don't do Pop.

I looked at a few rates in late January and early February. POP should be the least expensive option, an important consideration since you are on a budget. It also puts you on the Skyliner.

Conversely, the Swan & Dolphin are the most adult of the 3 options. Since your trip is just two adults, this is another important consideration.

Still, POFQ is perhaps the most adult Disney operated hotel at WDW.

Tough choice.

If it's within your budget, I'd go with the Swan or Dolphin.

yes, we will be driving! Thanks!!

Thanks everyone! It’s between POFQ and Swan/Dolphin. I’m leaning more towards POFQ though. The resort looks so nice!!!

The only thing I would not recommend is POP. It’s fine but definitely more of a kid trip vibe.

Is port orleans riverside an option? That is my all time favorite moderate (We’ve stayed at them all). French quarter was good too but riverside was amazing! So beautiful and quiet. The pool/bar area is so much nicer than French Quarter IMO.

The swan and dolphin are great for an adult only trip. Keep in mind they will charge you daily for parking (i think its like $15 a night, and there are resort fees on top of the price that you see that may not be included in the price you are looking at). You can’t beat the location though and there are so many places for adults to hang out on the boardwalk.

I LOVE Riverside!!! I stayed there with the kids 3 years ago. I’ll be joined this trip with someone that has never been to Disney before that’s why I thought Pop should be considered (theming and cost). Decisions decisons lol

yes! Lol I’m leaning more towards PORQ especially since we have our car. Just not sure about how the parking works at each park we go to. We plan on going to each of the parks.
Since you are staying onsite, theme park parking is included in the price of your hotel.

Generally, it's faster to drive to Epcot, DHS, and DAK.

The bus is generally faster for the Magic Kingdom.

I’ve stayed at both POFQ and Pop as adult only trips. My decision is usually made based on the price difference at the time and the rate per night. Never stayed at Swan/Dolphin. I’d weigh the price difference vs. amenities you care about/would use. For example, I view them as all equal when it comes to dining because we could care less about a lounge option and none of the TS restaurants at Swan/Dolphin are high on our lists. In contrast, indoor hallways, especially in Dec or Jan, are a plus for me because I have been there several times when it’s shockingly cold, so that’s something I’d judge worthy of paying a bit more. Be sure to include parking costs into your mat since you said you would have car. When traveling with my partner, we spend very, very little time in the room, which edges me towards Pop because why spend more than needed. But sometimes when I travel solo, I want to hang out in the room or at the resort more, so then I might opt for a nicer place.

Basically, I’m suggesting you look at the price vs what you get and will use. It’s easy to suggest the nicer places because they tend to be nicer, but if all the nicer doesn’t matter to you, then maybe saving money is a better choice.
