I think both will be very crowded. I would have voted for Thanksgiving because at least it won't be quite as hot ,but after reading your post I guess you have been during the summer ,so you are know what the weather will be like -
I guess if you don't mind the heat ,and you are already doing Christmas -The 4th sounds fun too !

Let us know what you decide

It's too hot in FL for us in July. It's too hot in Atlanta, too, so we often head north for that holiday to visit family. It sounds like since good pool weather is important to you, as well as the summer entertainment, that you made the right choice in July. We have been once over Thanksgiving week and the weather was usually very nice, but not pool weather every day. It is crowded, but we found it manageable. It was not as crowded as Easter or right before Christmas. Happy planning!

So of course I broke out my point chart today to compare the numbers. It's amazing how much less points it is if we go for Thanksgiving vs July. What is the weather like usually? Is it still pretty warm, enough to swim? My kids LOVE to swim which is one reason I was leaning towards July. The poll I posted says it all....69 of you said Thanksgiving! Wow! That's a lot you! How are flights for Thanksgiving? I would imagine a lot higher than July? :confused3

I voted for November. We have been there in the summer and while it is not unbarable heat, it does get hot. I'd rather go in Nov. We have a LOOOOONG winter here and anything to make it feel shorter is welcome. I'd also love to see the Christmas themeing that is up then. We went once over Veteran's Day weekend and the parks were partially decorated. Ever since then I have wanted to go back for Christmas!

After reading many of the posts about the 4th of July, we may have to make that a goal to see as well. Not until we can check Christmas off the ist though.:thumbsup2

I chose Thanksgiving. The heat in July would make me absolutely miserable. We were there the week before Easter this year and it was hot enough then. I can't imagine being able to enjoy myself in July's heat and humidity.

The temperatures in November can be iffy. Some years it will definitely be warm enough, others...well...

If you are from a colder climate then even if others don't think it's warm enough to swim you and your kids might.

We've been during Thanksgiving and early in the week its fine later in the week it gets crowded but I didn't think it was too bad.

If you are going for a week at Thanksgiving, you'll likely have a mix of days warm enough to swim and too cold to swim. The pools are heated, but its getting out of the pool that's cold. As a pp said, your kids will likely find it warm enough.

Also, remember that you cannot pool hop with DVC during holiday periods. Most likely Pool Hopping will not be available the week around July 4 and all of Thanksgiving week.

Agree with this as well.

As far as airfare, well it is already insanely high this year although there seem to have been some deals as of late and we have even gotten a couple credits on SW but still it is highter than we usally pay.

We always fly SW and they haven't come out with their schedule past November 4th however as long as you don't travel the actual week of Thanksgiving I think the airfare is okay. Last year we traveled Chicago to Orlando leaving the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and came home the Sunday after the the tickets were $350 per person round trip. Which was very high I thought, but there is a premium for flying that week because of the Holiday. Since we don't do it all the time, not sure if that is the standard but I definately would think the airlines can/will charge closer to the holidays.

I am sure either month your trip will be awesome! Enjoy. :)

My family have been DVC members for over 10 years and have to say that we've been to Disney during Thanksgiviing, and to tell the truth the past few times we went the weather wasnt that great. It didnt rain but it wasn't swimming weather as a matter of fact it was heavy coat weather at night. Its not what you've been use too. Its still alot of fun but just not the same. Also call disney and see when thier putting out the Christmas lights. The one time we were there they didnt go up for several days after Thanksgiving. And finally make sure you have the utencils and supplies to cook a turkey in the rooms or you going to be calling the desk alot. Again it was alot of fun, but nothing like the same of the warmer weather. Where as Christmas its more accepted the cooler weather.:scared1:

I picked the 4th of July, because I love fireworks and they were special and something to see.

What my family did was on the 3rd,we did the fireworks dessert party at MK. This gave us tasty treats and a special viewing area out of the crowds. After the fireworks, they also led us out behind the scenes and with fewer people.

Then on the 4th be sure you hear the Voices of Liberty at the American Garden Theater in the PM in a concert with some Characters. We watched the Holiday fireworks at Epcot and just walked back to BCV!

We have a family obligation this year, but Disney on the 4th will be something we'll surely do again!
