I love your opinions guys thanks! Is early July as hot as late August?

We went to WDW in August 2009 and it was HOT. I was 6 months pregnant so I'm sure that made me feel worse in the heat. We always made it to the parks early and relaxed at the pool all afternoon and took advantage of evening EMH when the parks were cooler. I'm thinking in July we'd have to do the same thing since we'd have a toddler with us.

She's another consideration. She will turn 3 the week after Thanksgiving. So would I rather bring a 2 2/12 year old or an almost 3 year old?? :confused3

I'm going to look over the point charts and historical park hours and think long and hard about it.

Keep the opinions coming....thanks!

I chose 4th of July. But I may be a bit bias. We stayed the week of Thanksgiving a few years ago and the weather was awful. The first day was sunny and around 80. The rest of the week was either rainy or cloudy with no high going over 60. We had to buy more sweatshirts and gloves. So I vote for a warmer time of year.

PS - I should mention that we went the first week of December once and the weather was wonderful. Sunny and highs in the low 80's. But I still vote for summer, just in case.

I chose Thanksgiving time just because it is cooler and we have been on 4th of July and it was beyond crowded. However, after reading our first post, I really think that you would prefer the summer time.

Good luck!

Initially I chose Thanksgiving Week, but then read your post and seen you were at WDW that time last year, so I will change my opinion to the 4th of July. If you just experienced all of the Chritmas stuff then I would want to do something different this year. I have never been in July, we've gone in June several times and it is hot then. However heat has never been an issue for us because we get in at RD and are out by the hottest part of the day and laying at the pool. Good luck with your decision. Have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

You guys are the best, thanks a ton for your input!

After looking over the park hours last night we were shocked by how long they are during Thanksgiving week. That made us think it must WAY more CROWDED then we first thought!

We have decided on July. :cheer2: My husband said it's much easier for him to get off of work for the 4th than November. Our kids LOVE to swim and I'm afraid of the sketchy november weather. I'm usually in the mindset of using as few points as possible for our trips and there's a big difference between the two holidays. Well...we did an add on last week so we can have the option of traveling during higher point seasons. I think the points will be well spent and our kids will have a great time! Now...if I can snag a treehouse for a few of the nights...even better! :wizard:

I have gone in both mid July and late August. I found the temps in July to be MUCH worse--both heat and humidity--and the increased crowd levels in July didn't help either.

the beginning of July is hot, but nothing compared to the end of July into August (yet it hasn't stopped us from visiting the end of July which is now a manadatory vacation week for my DH). We just went slow and contrary to strategy most employ (visit early, afternoon nap @ poolside), we'd sleep in (woo-hoo), enjoy the pool then amble over to park in early afternoon most days and stay into the evening.

Airfare would likely be far more reasonable too in July vs holiday travel.

Personally THanksgiving!,

Spent this past Thanksgiving week at SSR, absolutely lovely weather and the crowds only got bad the day of and after. Would love to go again this year!

July, too stinking hot, too crowded, thunder storms every day at 3:30pm. I do 1st week of June, never July, and then I to 2 days before school starts around Aug 1st, and then we stick to the waterparks!

Yes Keisha you are right about the transportation. That is one of the biggest factors for us. We had a trip booked for last thanksgiving and wound up canceling it because the airfare was so high. Since we have to buy plane tickets for 6 of us it adds up! :scared1:

Thanksgiving Week! Small crowds, the weather and Thanksgiving Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern.

Wendy
We go EVERY year for Christmas and 4th of July we love them both and both for diffrent reasons. But with the 4th its just well is amazing. We do avoid MK on the 4th itself because its crazy crowded but have REALLY come to appreciate EPCOT for all it does on that special day. We do go to MK on the 3rd tho for the Preview of the 4ths Fireworks ( they always debate it is it gonna happen its not gonna happen trust me in 6 years its always happened) the July 3rd show is usually just as good as the 4th's show.
We usually get late ADR's at Ohana's and ask for MK view so we can watch the 4ths Fireworks from there and its incredible! Then we Monorail over and enjoy the Park after it clears out, usually does after the fireworks and then enjoy EMH. Whichever season you pick you know you won't be disappointed:thumbsup2....Shawnpirate:

Thanks Shawn!

Do they ever stagger the time enough to see the MK and Epcot fireworks both on the 4th?

Not sure where you live...but I live in NJ and I would not like to go somewhere hotter than it is here in the summer:scared1:I voted thanksgiving because I also would rather be comfortable and crowded than hot and sticky and crowded. There are also long hours over the holiday week so you won't miss out on park time. It sounds like you already have your mind made up for the 4th though.

July 4th = Hot, crowded.

Thanksgiving = Not so hot, not so crowded.

One thing to remember as well, the Osborne Family lights and X-Mas decorations are already up at Thanksgiving! It's worth seeing!

Thanksgiving. Better weather and you get to forgo all of the big day's cooking.

Thanksgiving. It is too hot in July! We went Thanksgiving week this past year and the weather was perfect. We were able to swim and I thought the parks weren't too bad. (we did not go to parks on thanksgiving day though - we switched over to Vero Beach)

Both are crowded but the weather in July well HOT HOT so November for us.
