Which would you choose, for seven nights the Contemporary in a tower room or Animal Kingdom deluxe Savannah view with bunk beds or the Boardwalk and last but not least The Wilderness Lodge???? What are each's pro's and con's, besides the obvious? Any and all information is GREATLY appreciated :goodvibes

Hi! I see you have a 2 year old. In that case I would pick Wilderness Lodge for the location close to MK. AKL would mean busses everywhere, and CR doesn't really appeal to me, but it is on the monorail, which would be convenient. Ever thought of the Polynesian?

Well, certainly there is an advantage to the Contemporary or Wilderness as far as a stroller is concerned. The Poly would be wonderful as well. I would take the Boardwalk over the Animal Kingdom as there you can boat or walk to Epcot or MGM and there is lots of room for a 2 year old to run in the Boardwalk area. I find the AKL to be a bit limited as far as grounds go and a 2 year old may not appreciate the animals at a distance as much as an older child would.
The moderates are also a good choice for a 2 year old as the rooms always seem to be quieter to me. We seldom hear a sound at the CBR at night but at the deluxe hotels it seems that people are always in the hall running and laughing at all hours of night. But zero entry pools are also a big consideration with a toddler.
If you choose the Boardwalk, ask for a room away from the valet side of the building. Bus noise and car noise can be ongoing til very late.
I would say to choose a hotel where you will feel the most relaxed and you will all have a great time.

Really no I havent thought of the poly. I dont know why? I think i might be because someone at work told my dh it smelled funny. Is this true? :confused3 Thanks or the info!!

Thank you so much for the info Fran! :goodvibes

We have stayed at the Poly many times and never noticed any odor. The grounds are great and there is a wonderful beach area for the kids to play at. The Poly has the best coffee in all the "World." We love to sit on the beach area at night and wait for the electrical water parade to come by. You can stroll(er) over to the TTC and catch a monorail to Epcot. We also find ourselves frequenting the MK far more often when we are there with the grandkids--just going over for the fireworks or a stroll down Main Street as the monorail makes it effortless. If you have a rental car, try taking it to the AK and MGM instead of the bus as I have found the bus service to be a bit slow on occasion. Parking is free for resort guests. As far as the Wilderness Lodge is concerned, it is very beautiful but too much like the Colorado Rockies where we live. Have a wonderful time.

Thank you very much Fran! I think I will look into the Poly. Thanks again for the info!! :goodvibes

Something to take into consideration...the Poly does *not* have a hot tub.

agnes!

I noticed the concierge bldg at the Poly having an odor almost like a mildewy smell. But it's not enough to keep me away...I love the Poly!!!

I imagine you'll spend more time at MK than anywhere, right? If so, then I would choose Poly or CR first, then WL and then BWI. If you spend more time at Epcot or MGM, BWI is a great choice. AKL last...I love the resort, but hate the far away location.

I've stayed at both of these, and they are both beautiful!! If your kids are animal nuts, there is nothing like waking up and seeing elephants and giraffes off your balcony! However, we did wait for the busses almost every day--it takes a long time to get anywhere.

WL is perfect--really is beautiful, great pool, great restaurants. It is super easy to get anywhere, and we kept getting places 30 minutes before our PS b/c it just didn't take long. Especially with the boat to MK, I would vote for WL with little one. JMHO :earsboy:

Thanks Guys I think I have crossed AKL off the list. I think I am leaning now towards Poly. because my oldest DS would love the Volcano pool. I am the one who wants to go to AKL but I also dont want to be waiting forever with a 3 year old  for the bus! So which Deluxes besides AKL has the coolest pools? Thanks again for the info! :goodvibes

Here's a vote for the CR! It's so convenient to roll out of bed, down the elevator, and right onto the monorail with a stroller.

Thank you so much! I am now torn between CR and Poly!! I just visited Tikimans pages and I am really, really thinking the Poly. Still thinking though. :goodvibes

I think you should give the Polynesian a try. I myself have never smelled anything and I have stayed in a few of the buildings including the conceirge building and I walk through everyone when I visit (last time being last August). They just finished work on all the original longhouses to fix them up from the foundation to the exterior wood so they are like new. They are going to start redoing the rooms a few at a time to give them a new look (from the look that was introduced in 1998) 95% of the reports I get say that the rooms look like new and no mention of any smell so I think it maybe due to the time of the year they visited and some issues they had with the old airconditioning that has been changed in the rooms. I think the Polynesian has the most to offer and has the best transportation options. If you ahve any questions just ask. There are many here that have been to the Polynesian many times and can give you a better idea of the place.

If you have not booked yet send me an email if you want to know about some extra hawaiian stuff you can get.

Aloha

Steve

Thank you very much Steve! I think we will be giving the Poly. a whirl. :goodvibes Can you recommend a good garden view? We have not booked yet. Thanks for the info!!! We cant wait to go!!!! :moped:

In regards to the smell question, someone had put up a post a while back that they smelt gas. Apparently its only for about 10 mins. while they are lighting the outdoor tiki burny thingys. (sorry its been a long week and its only wed.) The smell was coming into their room via open balcony door.
All I know is I WANT to go to the POLY. :teeth:

POLY POLY!!! We went when our children were 7, 5 & 4....THEY ALL LOVED IT!!! I would return this time, we just wanted to try something new...the pool is wonderful..has a zero entry for 3 year old...so easy to get on the monorail. Bigger rooms means more space for you guys....we stayed in Tokelau...really liked it...but I hear some other ones have recently been renovated...might ask for those..I like that fresh paint/new carpet feel! :)

Thanks soooooo much! We have definately decided on the Poly. Very excited now we just need to decide on which building we should request. I cant wait!!!! :bitelip:

Banshee- Samoa is between the Volcano Pool and the quiet pool, and some of the rooms have beautiful views I've heard. The 2nd floor doesn't have a balcony, so if this is important to you, I'd ask for 3rd floor. Also near Great Ceremonial house. Have fun! Does anyone remember the room CamColt had pictures of? Maybe do a search for a room number- but it was definitely
CamColt who had a particularly good view.
