Which would you choose???

Okay, this is kind of a combo Resort/Attractions question so I am going to try my luck here.

Right now DH and I are booked at AKL in a savannah view room. If a good enough code comes out for December, DH and I are thinking of adding something special to our trip. Our choices include either upgrading to AKL concierge for the week or booking a private cruise for the family on the Grand One Yacht with dinner onboard. Now... I must add that this is a big family trip (me, DH, DS, her DH, mom, dad, DB (17), DS (19)) It will be DS's 20th bday and parents 20th anniversary while we are there and we were already planning to book an Illuminations birthday cruise for those celebrations. I have had no experiences with either concierge or the Grand One. The concierge would benefit just DH and I but the Grand One would benefit everyone. Which would you do. Any comments would be appreciated!!!

P.S. The Grand One would be a surprise to everyone - we would still tell everyone that we are going on the Illuminations cruise.

Hi Kim - My vote is the family Illuminations with dinner. I stayed at AKL last year and was not that impressed with the concierge service that I received. That being said - the concierge lounge and snacks were nice to have but how much will you use the lounge if it is a family trip and you and DH are the only ones who can use the lounge? I don't think that you will use it all that much especially if all of your family are staying with you at the AKL. That is why my vote is for the family Illuminations. Enjoy whichever one you decide. The AKL is my favorite resort. I hope that I enjoy the Swan this year 1/2 as much as I enjoyed the AKL last year.

When I first saw your post I was going to vote for AKL Concierge but it might be a little awkward if you and DH are the only ones who can access the lounge?

Where is everyone else staying? Is it at AKL?

I guess I would go for the Grand One-but only if I could get it on a fireworks night. If not, then I would go for the Illuminations cruise.

I just couldn't shell out the money for the Grand One unless it involved seeing fireworks.

It's hard to turn down AKL Concierge but I don't think you would be spending much time in the lounge if everyone else was in a different type of room.

that is a tough one Kim!

I love staying concierge, but that is me, I'm spoiled

I look at is as spending money for a couple of hours or for the whole week!

but it would be a nice surprise for the whole family! something you'd all remeber for a very long time!

hey, maybe the discounts will be soooo good, you'll be able to do both!!!!

Ooooohh, if you were in conceierge you could take the sunrise animal tour at AK!! That sounds like a real winner to me!!
