I have to decide between the Beach Club, Boardwalk and Yacht Club.

Which would you choose, and why? Pros/Cons? Were just looking to get a standard room, unless there's something extra special about an upgraded room.

ETA—— Our party consists of...
Myself and my husband (38 & 45)
Our daughters (14, 13 & 4)
My father and his wife (70 & 72)

TIA!

I voted for the BWI, not knowing anything about your party. However, if you have older children that love to swim you might want to go with the Beach Club for Storm Along Bay. Otherwise, the BW is a truly cool place to stay with nice rooms with a decor that we enjoy, a fun Boardwalk with activities that are amusing at night and easy access to both Epcot and DHS.

Truly any of the three you mentioned are great. We just have found that the BWI is super fun (and has a great CL, if you are interested in going the extra $$$). The standard view rooms can even have a view of Epcot fireworks! Most rooms have a balcony. We have requested fireworks view from our standard balcony and been fortunate to be granted our request. We love the atmosphere while strolling along the BW listening to the buskers at night. Dining is good here as well, plus you have all of Epcot's World Showcase right next door.

We like that you don't usually share a bus, that the pool is easy to keep your eyes on little ones and that the Ample Hills ice cream is delicious!!!

Whichever resort you choose, enjoy your trip!

I would really want to know about prior visits, the number and ages of people in your party, dining plans, etc. before I'd answer. Also, if you're a balcony person or not.

I've stayed at YC and BC (and BCVs) with young kids. We have always gone during lower-occupancy times of year, so a less-crowded SAB has been a big draw for me and my kids. We liked having Hurricane Hanna's nearby for QS food (both by the pool and to take to our room), we used the QS place at BC a few times (YC has one now as well), ate at more casual restaurants and lounges at both places...and we only walked over to the BW area a few times over three trips for dinner. We are also big Epcot fans, so being near to the WS for dinner was great (though I realize BWI is close to that as well). We loved being able to walk to the lighthouse to catch the boat to the Studios. We loved the look of BC's latest renovation and felt the room was luxurious. I like the look of YC's renovation, but our stay there was in the old style rooms. During all stays in the YC/BC complex, we asked to be close to transportation and were very close to elevators to the lobby.

Regarding balconies, twice we had full ones, once a Juliet balcony. We could see Epcot fireworks from both full balconies (one a standard view, one a garden view. Ironically, our Juliet balcony in BC was a lake view and the most expensive...the view was lovely but we couldn't see fireworks). We were ok with the Juliet balcony but really prefer full ones.

However, now that my kids have experienced SAB, they're ok with staying at BWI and trying the clown/roller coaster slide. I've heard the pool at BWI is also a bit calmer than SAB overall (a big draw for me). We'd likely get a full balcony (I'm not sure if there are a few without). I really like the look of the rooms, though I've heard some of them can be particularly far away from the center of the resort. We would probably miss more QS options as well as indoor TS options at BWI compared to YC/BC. The restaurants in the general BW area aren't our favorites (or at Swolfin). So overall, we'd like to experience BWI b/c it's 'new' to us. But as you can, for a variety of reasons, it wasn't our first choice of Epcot area resorts.

I hope that helps :).

Edited to add: you edited your post as I was typing! If your kids like pools (and if you're going when you'll have good pool weather), I'd probably chose either YC or BC given the ages of your kids. SAB is a treat for kids who like swimming...there's a great, shallow sandy area for young kids and the older ones will like the lazy river and slide. Kid's meals at HH come in buckets to play in the sand after. If you want a balcony, go with YC...if it's not so much of a concern, go with whichever decor rocks your boat the most.

One more note...the lobby at BC is busier and often louder than the lobby at YC due to the presence of the Cape May buffet. BC's lobby is great for people watching, YC's lobby is much more peaceful if you enjoy a quiet break. Some say YC is less 'kid friendly' because it's more sedate and formal, but my boys loved it and the nautical theme, fwiw.

I've stayed at all three. At this point I'd choose Boardwalk, because it's the only one where the rooms are still strongly themed. The other two had the in-room theming toned way down during their last refurbs. So if you prefer more subtle theming, your preference may be different than mine.

All things being equal I would choose YC every time, it's my favorite resort on all of Disney property. Having said that, we enjoy all three of them and usually just stay in whichever one is less. BC is my least favorite, it feels more kid friendly to me, which might work in your favor. We are two adults so we like the understated elegance of YC. BW is fine with us, the halls seem very redrum to me but if you like to walk to both parks, according to where you room is, it could be closer to HS walking wise. The pool at YC/BC is a big draw for kids for frankly, I think the one at BW is fine. Another thing I don't like about BC is the fact that you aren't guaranteed a full balcony, if you get a balcony at all there is a good chance it will be a Juliet balcony and I like to sit on my balcony in the morning with my coffee and at night with a glass of wine.

So new party info makes a difference to my vote:

With your 2 teenage children, I would say either the YC or BC (whichever theme you prefer) except if you want a full balcony, then the YC.

I would choose YC, all rooms have balconies and great pool complex. Upgrade to garden view isn’t much more and IMO worth it. But, YC has standard view rooms over the front Portico that have large shared balcony which may be fun with 2 rooms. Of course it’s always just a request and nothing guaranteed.

Just recently returned from BC. It’s a great resort, but BWI would be my pick. 1.) way better food options. The pizza window at BWI is fantastic. The BC marketplace is downright awful. 2.) the standard view rooms at BC look out over a rock roof. I usually don’t care about the view, but it would have been nice to look down and see trees or even greenery by a parking lot. But looking out over a floor of pebbles is less than magical. Our standard view at BWI looked out over the village green. Much nicer! 3.) Easy to get to EPCOT and HS.

I’ve never stayed at YC, and would like to try it out. All in all, I’d go for the cheapest resort. If they’re basically the same price, go for BWI

Our preferences, in order are BWI, YC, then BC. Typically I pick whichever is cheapest. BWI is more lively, so your children may prefer it (my DS10 does).

If the pool is a factor, perhaps look at YouTube videos to get a sense of the pool layouts and slides. The pools st the EP resorts are make or break for some.

We've stayed at all 3, and enjoyed them. But the Beach Club is my clear favorite!

1. Stormalong Bay. My 18 year old daughter in particular loves the fact that there's always a water volleyball game going on. There is a little kids area that you might choose to park in, so it's easier to keep an eye on your 4 year old. Also, make sure she has a bright colored bathing suit for the same reason.

2. The Marketplace. The Yacht Club and Boardwalk don't seem to have anything to compare. You can run down for morning coffee, stop for a pizza, whatever. It's a huge convenience for us.

3. I just love the light airy feel of the resort.

But, to tell you the truth, you can't go wrong with any of the 3. All three resorts are wonderful. The Epcot/ DHS access can't be beat.

Here's what we do: We start off booking the Beach Club. Then we tell our travel agent that we'll take a transfer to any of the 3 that offers a significant discount. One year I checked my email from my 3rd period study hall to find that we had saved $1000 by moving from the Beach Club to the Yacht Club... they're in the same building!!!!

I just sent Disney an email with my room requests for our upcoming trip. I did mention that we would like a full balcony and a room near the elevator--- all 3 resorts are sprawling and it's just easier to be able to get to the lobby quickly.

I would not choose Boardwalk because the clown at the pool freaks me out. We usually stay at Swan and all these are beautiful choices, but that Beach Club pool is pretty amazing. What a fun choice to make!

This year we left Poly for the first time and booked an Epcot area hotel for a split stay Independence Day week vac. The choice between the 3 hotels was difficult but we finally narrowed it down to YC. The deciding factors were the pool (this was hands down what my traveling juveniles ages 9 to 17, "glommed" on to) and more usable balconies (adults huddling in an area w/ a door we can shut- privacy!). We also opted into a standard CL room mostly because I'm tired of playing "fetch from the food court" for our regular breakfast which is Continental style. Now all can make it down to the club lounge and get their own food while I continue to read my paper in a more comfy space and watch the clock since apparently I'm the only one who keeps abreast of the FPs, LOL. I expect we will like the bthrm style at the newer deluxe resorts since up to 3 people can use the facilities with a bit of privacy. Now DGD can worship the mirror pretty much to her heart's desire. She's at that special age where much time is spent changing hair dos even though she'll invariably go back the the one she started with....children are so strange. YC is pet friendly so you can view that as a pro or con depending on your views towards canines.

We will be staying at the Boardwalk for our Thanksgiving trip because there will only be one child who will still want to go to the water parks and they are much closer to the Epcot hotels than Poly. There was no true deciding factor beyond the want to experience the area from a different place. I have heard some nice about the weekend/Sunday omelet station @ CL so maybe we'll give that a whirl.

I would choose YC. Like the full balcony, SAB, and more serene common areas (compared to BC). In fairness, I haven’t tried BW yet, but that clown pool...lol.

I completely agree with going CL for quick breakfasts and convenient snacks and drinks, but I won’t pay rack rate for it.

Yacht Club - Club level room. I've done it once and it was awesome! Also have done the Polynesian at club level.

I haven't stayed at YC, but have stayed at BWI and BC and my choice would be BWI. Our BC stay was nice, but I loved everything about BWI. As Babsy posted, BWI is a fun resort and its CL is amazing (if CL is an option). Good luck! :)

I would say Beach Club and Boardwalk are fairly even. I would give the Beach Club the edge because of the pool and the festivities of Boardwalk are close enough of a walk to not be a problem.

I’ve never been to yacht club without having a lot of issues and the rooms are down like a billion hallways that all look the same and it gets confusing sometimes.
