DH wants me to book a short trip for just the two of us for our 16th Anniversary in October. Our Anniversary is October 10th and the way it looks right now we'll be arriving at WDW on the 8th and leaving on the 12th. I have nothing booked yet because I am unsure if I want to go and also because I am waiting for codes since we just got back from a trip in June and I don't want to be spending a ton of $$.

If we do go I'm either looking at CR in the wings or WL. We just stayed at WL this June and it is a beautiful resort with OK transportation. CR has better transportation but I don't know how the wing rooms are but its closer to the "magic" if you know what I mean . . .I would really love to stay at the Poly but I don't think I want to part with a ton of cash . . .but I probably could be bribed. :D

Which would you choose and why?

We only spent one night at the WL, but I'm sold. If it were me, I'd choose WL. I don't think the garden wing at CR has balconies and most rooms at WL do. It's kind of nice to have one of those.

That being said, there are some very nice amenities at the CR. So, look at it this way. If you want to save on money, you could just get a quote on the price of the WL type of room you would like and a garden wing room at CR. See how that stacks up to the better transportation, balcony, shopping, etc. If WL is alot cheaper, there you go. If they are neck and neck - try something new- CR!
Good luck - I know it can be hard to decide.

Of the two, I'd go with the WL. The whole place is much more romantic, plus there's the fireplace, the stream, more interesting dining options.

As you can see in my sig, for total romance, DW and I (23 years - woohoo!) are going to the Polynesian. Tiki torch-lit paths, sandy beaches, topical music - now that's romance.

Ditto on the Lodge. It's gorgeous. The Contemporary, in my mind, is pretty un-spectacular and in the time it takes to walk from a Garden Wing room and up to the monorail floor, you could be on that nifty little boat to the MK. Furthermore, the transportation is "equal" to the other parks as they are not on the main monorail line. Gotta love that Lodge... So much beauty right there, and great smells and quiet places. VERY romantic.

I've never stayed at the Contemporary, just doesn't appeal to me. We stayed at WL for our 24th wedding anniversary and our first stay not in a moderate. Where would I stay? We made a short trip last may as an early anniversary/flower garden festival/Star wars weekend/we got annual passes trip. Stayed at the Swan. Would stay here again in a minute. Stayed for $60.00 a night and starwood points that I learned about here. Boat or walk to MGM and Epcot. Good transportation everywhere else. Beautiful, intimate, fabulous service, large room with balcony upgrade............

If it were Contemporary Tower vs WL it might be a hard one to decide, but WL vs. Contemporary Garden-- definitely go with the WL.

Married at WL 1/98. It's just the best. Though if you could get a ground floor room at the CR wings overlooking the water thats pretty nice too!!:D
