We are tossing around those two different travel times and would like to know what you all think on which would be the better of the two times?

I think the second dates since they should be after Candlelight Processional(unless of course you wanted to see it) and the staff parties.

Well can you only stay in the parks if you have a ticket for the Candlelight Processional??? Or can we just still do the rides and what not?? W are not worried about the 8th and 9th closing early, so that is not a concern for us.

I think you can stay in the park, so it may actually be a good time for rides if most people are catching the show.

it will be busy lol it always is

I went last yr dec 8-12 and it was busier then I thought it would be not summer crowds or anything but busy.

well we went december 11 to 17 last year and the last 3 days of our trip were crazy busy.

It's hard to say. Usually the early in the month the better but that first group of dates has the CP and then the CM parties. The 2nd week doesn't have any events but you are getting closer to X-mas which will bring in more crowds. Sorry, I guess that didn't help you very much but maybe it can help you make your decision...

I have decided to go when I can go and not worry about the crowd.

People will be there no matter what just go and have a good time and use the fastpass system and have fun.

When I went in may mon-fri I swear wed was the busiest day so I give up on wondering when it is busy or not, I just go and make the most of it.

I'd say whatever dates aren't during the processional, without getting too close to christmas. lol

hmm... maybe we should do December 8th to 15th... still there during the time of the parks closing early

we are going the second week of dec.:goodvibes

i hope whatever time you pick you have safe travel and make lots of happy memories!:santa:

We're going 12/10-12/12. I just noticed that the DL will be open until 10 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday so I figure it will be crowded. Oh, well mostly going to see the castle and decorations anyway.

I'd go the 2 to the 9th, a CM told me it just gets busier the closer you get to Christmas. We were there during to procession and didn't notice once we got away from Main St.

Last year I was there the 9 and 10th and then back on the 19th. Had a blast both times, but crowds were far lighter the first trip!!

i was wondering the same thing...i'm looking at a quick trip on either 12/11-12/13 or 12/18-12/20. according to the DL website, the EP will be back up and running starting 12/19 (something i'd like to see)...but i think it will be more crowded that weekend since it's a week closer to christmas.

good luck with your planning!

Dec 2-9 would be a mnistake because you are going to have short days because of the cast member parties and huge crowds because of the Candlelight Processional. Dec 10-17 would be better because schools are not our for Christmas break yet!

Our last December trip's final day was a Friday Dec. 17th. It was the first night that Fantasmic was back after being dark.

When we went from DCA to Disneyland the crowds were unbelievable. It was so bad... the crowds were being let in through the tomorrowland side of back-stage. It was neat to see - but once we got to the hub - the crowds were still oppressive.

The crowds were unexpected. The following Monday it was the subject of an article on mouseplanet.com. I believe it came close to reaching a point where they stop letting people in.

Even though the other three days of our trip were not that bad... we made the decision to start going in Oct. instead.

So my vote would be the early the better - unless it conflicts with a special event. The 10th-17th shouldn't be that bad - but I would not stick around for Friday 19th.

Hi there
We are visiting the 18th, 19th and 20th December - only full day is Friday the 19th - I am guessing it will be pretty busy around this time!

I'm actually not too worried, the trip is more for my DS, and he'll love it, have already decided to chill out, relax and do what we can not try and cram everything into a few days.

So glad I found these forums, I am insanely excited about going - and nice to share that with others.

you know Im not sure why people think the candlelight processional makes the park super busy because imo it doesnt...more local people attend that anyway and its not until nighttime...also the cm parties just mean that 2 days the park will close at like 6pm but because of that, DCA will be open till like 9 or something...so I honestly think if you can get over that part then going the first week will be the best out of the 2 dates...
