Which week in June would you schedule a trip to DL?

We are planning a trip to DL (our first) for June of next year. We will be staying a week and are trying to figure out when would be the best time.

I read somewhere that there are lots of schools taking field trips to the parks the first 2 weeks of June, is that true?

What's the tempature and crowds like during June?

In my experiences, the first two weeks in June are less crowded. Typically, public schools don't get out until about the 18th, so they won't be involved. A lot of the "Field trips" that people talk about are Grad Nites and take place after hours anyways.

Usually, in the first 2 weeks, the California Resident summer promotions aren't out yet at any California attraction, so you will probably have less crowds then in that respect as well.

Maybe someone else has a different perspective.

the parks usually closes earlier - 8 pm because of grad nights. So you won't have fireworks or the Electric Light Parade except for weekends.

I have to disagree. I have been both the first week in June and the second week in June (2 different trips) and both had wall to wall kids on end of the year field trips.

If I was going to go in June, I would pick the last week. Schools will be out, and Early Close for Grad nights will be over by them.

Last June (2001) we were on-site at the Disneyland Hotel from June 20 through the 26th. It was a great time to visit.

The weather was warm and sunny but never oppressively hot. The nights were cooler but never needed a sweater. No rainy days either.

The crowds were very managable. There were not any grad nights (they had just ended). The park hours were the longer ones for the summer season but we were able to start our stay before the rate change date so the entire stay was at the lower season rate.

We are thinking about going at this time again in '03. At least dreaming of it.

Unless you really enjoy kids I would wait until the 3rd week of June. The Los Angeles Unified School district does all their elementary school field trips to DL the first 2 weeks of June. Even our Jr. High District does thier 8th grade trip to DL the 2nd week of June.

It's been that way for years. I took my DD when she was 4 in 1986. And DL was wall to wall kids. I even did it for a fieild trip as a kid in the late 60's early 70's.

I would wait till the 3rd week of June. Unless you want to look like this guy when you leave DL

I have to agree about the wall-to-wall kids. We went June 2-6. We heard that early June had less crowds, too, and it was so crowded you could hardly walk. Tons and tons of squealing girls and loud boys showing off for one another. Blech! Understand that I have a middle schooler and understand the age, but thousands of them were a little much.

I would vote for later in June. Personally, for our family, we are going to stick to the off-season from now on.

Thanks for your responses. I think I'm going to take the advice of many of you and schedule our trip for June 18 - June 25.

Does anyone know when Grad Night will be next year?

I work for a high school district. And from what I remember Grad night this year was around June 18. So that will probably be about the time it will be next year. But not sure.

I believe (could be wrong) that there are more then one grad nights, since many school/school districts participate in this. But Grad nights won't affect crowds pe se but they will close the park earlier on those nights.
