Which Wdw hotel

I see no wrong choice.
  • Yacht Club has walking access to both Epcot and DHS, hard to beat that, especially for dining at Epcot; but you are not planning on hopping
  • WL may be the most magically decorated during the Xmas holidays; access to activites at the campground; price lower than other Deluxes
  • Poly is the Poly, it's theming makes it the mostest favorite; but not all rooms have balconies (this is a big deal to us)
  • I can't speak to AoA, but it's the most affordable

The only reason we were not thinking of park hopping is
A.... because it’s over Xmas we are worried the other parks would be full when we got there
B. Apart from mk we only have one day at each park and want to be able to see the nighttime shows for each park.

Poly or Yacht Club. We have stayed at both and you can't go wrong with either one. If you anticipate spending more time at the MK then Poly, plus it has great transportation options. If you are spending equal time among the parks, then Yacht Club. It has easy access to EPCOT, with all the food choices, and easy access to Hollywood Studios.

This is a special time for you so stay at a special hotel.

Thank you. I’m worried I’m gonna make the wrong decision. We are spending 2 days m

thank you. I’m worried I’m gonna make the wrong decision haha. We’re spending 2 days mk and 1 day each at the rest. I know we want to eat at ohana one day which I know is poly. I just don’t know if poly is worth the extra money then yacht club. Is yacht club as Disney themed as poly ?

There are not any nighttime shows currently happening.

Things may change come Christmas, and I believe it was announced that Harmonious in EPCOT is coming in 2021. But, no official opening date was given by WDW. So, I'm not sure you should bank on any nighttime shows. I hope the night time shows come back real soon, because I love them personally.

I would recommend Poly or Yacht Club. If you are doing 7 nights, I would even recommend looking into a split stay between the two. 3 nights at Poly and 4 nights at YC. Plan to do AK on your move day. That way the only day you have to worry about taking a bus to a park is on AK/move day.
In pre-covid days, getting around property on the busses took longer during Christmas since it was so busy. So, the less time you have to spend on the bus the better.

Poly was always our first choice but the cost is driving us out of staying there. That said, we love the Yacht Club and plan on being there later this year. Also, the proximity to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios adds to its appeal. I think it is as Disney as the Poly but the one thing you will miss is seeing the Magic Kingdom, especially at night, from your hotel. That is part of the charm of the Polynesian.

If you are struggling to decide, then I think Shellyred's suggestion of a split stay may be the best option. Moving between hotels within Disney is nearly seamless.

I vote for the split stay - last trip we started out at Riviera, went to Epcot and Hollywood studios on those days, went to Animal Kingdom on our switch day, then at Grand Floridian for the rest of the trip and went to Magic Kingdom those days. Easy to switch resorts, bell services moves your luggage during the day.

I would also recommend Wilderness Lodge as during the holiday, it has some of the best decorations, plus it's a deluxe resort, but less expensive than the others in that category.

Really, you can't go wrong whichever you choose.

Ooo ok thanks. So you don’t even have to move your stuff ? That’s very helpful. How do you check in ? Just when you get there after the park ?

For most of the reasons mentioned already, I would lean toward Poly or Yacht Club for a more park-focused trip. I also love WL, but the location is not quite as convenient. Never stayed at AoA - would be my last choice for an adults only trip. Poly is super romantic for a Honeymoon, especially at night. With the torches lit along the water -- hard to beat that walk back to your room. But it can also feel very chaotic in the lobby, and you have to walk outside to get food (which is annoying when it's raining). It's obviously really convenient for MK, but really only MK. We absolutely love the Yacht Club, and I find it romantic as well, but in a different way. The walk along the water on the Boardwalk at night is so peaceful, and the rooms are modern and clean. It's a relatively quiet resort and tends to feel a little more "adult". I prefer the location to Poly, since you can walk to both Epcot and HS, and the Skyliner is right there in case you'd like to visit Riviera (which I'd highly recommend!) or any other resort on the line. Wilderness Lodge is stunning at Christmas, but the location is just enough out of the way to be a tier down (for me) when compared to Poly and Yacht. But there is certainly something cozy about that big fireplace and the giant Christmas Tree at the holidays. Not to mention Geyser Point is one of our favorite places on property. Ultimately I'd lean Yacht or Poly. And others have mentioned, maybe a split stay is in order!

Just use mobile check in as you would for your first stay, then get notified by text or email when your new room is ready.

I know it's not on your list but we rented points and stayed at AKL for our honeymoon and we loved it. We had a savanna room with a balcony and it was so nice and peaceful to see all the animals. The food on the property was good too. We did parks everyday and I know a lot of people complain about the bus rides from AKL but we didn't find it to be that bad at all. We kind of felt like where else could we stay and see all this wildlife and have such a unique feel? I know it's not for everyone but we would love to go back.

Ok thank you for this.. I will look into it. I thought renting dcl points were for if you go to Disney all the time, or atleast yearly ?

No if you buy a DVC that's like a timeshare that you will go a lot, but you can rent points (which I highly recommend) and you can stay at a DVC location. You are basically buying unused points from a DVC member but you don't have to be a DVC member to do it. We were able to stay at AKL for the same price as a moderate resort. It was so worth it! We rented the points from my husband's coworker who is a DVC member but there are also websites that you can do this with as well. You can google the sites or someone on the board might have some suggestions on the best sites. It will save you some money too if you are looking for a deluxe resort.

You can also stay at a Villa resort on a cash basis when available. Less risk than renting points - a LOT of people got burned with that last year.
