Which WDW DVC resort feels the most exclusive?

Of the seven DVC properties at the Walt Disney World resort, which has the feel of being the most exclusive?

i would say blt...newest, on monorail, most expensive at resale, longest current life (2060?).

None of them.

All of them have people from all walks of life and all colors. All of them have at least a few hundred rooms. All of them have rooms sold on cash or rented out. All of them have "gentlemen" who don't remove their headgear indoors.

Exclusive really isn't a WDW thing.

If you are asking "upscale" - I wouldn't stay DVC either - I'd book a suite.

After 12 different visits to almost every DVC property, I would say none of them do. DVC will finance practically anyone, and is also in the habit of upgrading from the moderates when they overbook there. If you spend any time at the pools, you will see some really interesting people. Perhaps when the Four Seasons opens in 2014 WDW will have a resort that falls into this category.

I have heard about the upgrading. A friend of mine was booked at All Star Movies and her family was upgraded to Saratoga Springs because the resort was overbooked. Are guests staying at value and moderate resorts, who experience overbooking, typically upgraded to Saratoga Springs or are there other resorts that are used as well?

SSR is the typical upgrade.

Define "exclusive" in your terms.

Actual definition:
Definition of EXCLUSIVE

1
a : excluding or having power to exclude
b : limiting or limited to possession, control, or use by a single individual or group
2
a : excluding others from participation
b : snobbishly aloof
3
a : accepting or soliciting only a socially restricted patronage (as of the upper class)
b : stylish, fashionable
c : restricted in distribution, use, or appeal because of expense
4
a : single, sole <exclusive jurisdiction>
b : whole, undivided <his exclusive attention>

I would say none of the Disney resorts (DVC or otherwise) meet these definitions, thankfully.

Wow, that was too deep of an analysis!

Here is what I meant:

ex·clu·sive   [ik-skloo-siv, -ziv] adjective

fashionable; stylish: to patronize only the most exclusive designers.

an exclusive right or privilege: to have an exclusive on providing fuel oil to the area.

Which DVC resort is the most stylish and caters most to DVC members.

I also initially read your question as more of 'excluding' than stylish since exclusive means to exclude something/one.

But as far as stylishness goes:

So many people have different tastes, that your question can be hard to answer. I like VWL but some would think that it's too woodsy for them. BLT is fancy, but too modern for some guests. When the Grand Floridian is completed, that will probably fit the bill (but also exclude many people because the points will be high.) The really nice thing about DVC is that the different resorts have different theming for different tastes; what one loves, another dislikes.

Perhaps exclusive is not the right word.

I am just wondering if DVC members feel more special and valued than non-members at one of the resorts.

OKW is often offered too. This upgrade is what eventually led us to purchase lol we only stayed at values, upgraded to a one bedroom at SSR for free and then did one more value trip before purchasing.

It's a smart move on Disney's part lol I k ow many people who did the same.

No, I don't think that is the case anywhere.

DVC is just a financial arrangement - a different way of paying for vacations. That's it. There's no special treatment promised or given.

I get what you intended. In my humble opinion, BLT and BCV seem to be hardest to book and definately require 11 month home booking advantage a lot of the time. Making these seem more "exclusive".

Having stayed at all of them (on property, except VWL) I would say that they ALL feel "exclusive" to me. SSR and OKW are the easiest to get into and I feel the same way there as all the others. Love it!! :goodvibes

In my opinion, BCV and Boardwalk feel exclusive. Beautiful lobby. We purchased at SSR and love it but I feel different walking into BCV.

But you hear the most complaints about BCV being dirty and worn. Far from "exclusive".

Maybe Aulani? It excludes a lot of members because it is expensive to get there.

I think of Four Seasons and maybe some Omni resorts as being more exclusive. And none of the DVC resorts fit that bill. I don't think VGF will even fit, more like Gramma's Florida beach home than Mar-a-lago.

For me, no. I don't feel special, and I don't expect to. At WDW, I am just another person on vacation. Owning DVC does not set me apart from others, and I am no better than anyone else. DVC is a timeshare, not an elite organization.

I would say BLT, it's the only resort that you need a room key to get into and the Top of the World Lounge is lovely

Another place I think of as exclusive is Marco Beach Ocean Resort. Only valet parking. They set up a place for you on the beach with an umbrella and chairs. They bring you iced lemon water in the morning and sorbet in the afternoon. None of the DVC resorts do that. And probably never will.
