Which water park is your favorite and why? We will be doing a water park day this trip and I am having a hard time deciding which is best. My daughters will be 6 and 4. My 6 year old loves water slides, my 4 year old loves very mild water slides, but would be more daring on a tube with me. We would like to do tube slides with the girls as a family, and are also able to split up into twos to do other tube slides. Which one has more family friendly stuff? I doubt we will be doing many huge slides, as its more for the girls. The blizzard beach theme appeals more to the girls, but I have never been. Would love any advice!

My kids have always loved Blizzard Beach! There is a little something for everyone. They also have a family raft ride that we all love.

We didn't like blizzard beach at all. So much climbing with tubes, it was more tiring than fun to be honest. We love typhoon lagoon. We find it more relaxing. There's a few slides there. But the winner for us is the wave pool. It runs every 15 min I believe. It's fun!

You're going to have a great time whichever you go to, let's start with that (also, keep in mind that while I've spent a ton of time at both, it was back in 2009 when I lived down there and I haven't been back yet).

I prefer Blizzard Beach's attractions on the whole, but Typhoon Lagoon has a wonderful beachy feel to it that I also really enjoyed. Blizzard Beach is where most of the big thrills are; with kids as young as yours you may not get the full benefit of that. I do think there's enough variety there that you'll find something to love, though. Typhoon Lagoon has this lovely beachy feel (soft sand all over the place), and if anyone in your group does want a thrill Typhoon Lagoon is where you need to go if you want to experience a water coaster (water slide that shoots you up some of the hills with water jets).

I'm a little torn because I love Blizzard Beach and want to recommend it to everyone, but honestly, if only one of your girls is really into water slides and you're looking for something with more of a range of easygoing attractions...well, Typhoon Lagoon might be the better bet.

We always liked Typhoon Lagoon better. BB is more thrill slides and Typhoon had a more varied experience for us. As teens, my kids loved Bb. When they were little and now in their 20s, they prefer TL.

Both water parks are a lot of fun, but I'd ultimately go with Typhoon Lagoon. There's a children's slide area, as well as a family raft ride- which I think would work well with your girls' ages. The big favorite for us has always been the wave pool. The shark reef is a lot of fun, too! We really love the whole atmosphere of TL. :beach:

It depends on what your version of "mild" is. But based on your description, I would go with Typhoon Lagoon as well. The water slide exitment levels vary. Some mild slides for your 4yr. old, and some more exiting ones for your 6yr. old to. Plus, you can take a dip in the lazy river! :upsidedow

We are looking forward to trying. Other water parks but we live near the wisconsin dells so we go to noahs ark a lot even if it's just to sit in the wave pool and lazy river for a bit after work

I loooooved Blizzard Beach. The theme is fun and the wave pool in Typhoon Lagoon intimidated me too much when I was little.

With kids that age I'd check out BB's Ski Patrol area. It's designed for kids from about 4-12ish. Kid sized slides, walk across the ice floes, etc. The only thing I'd think twice about is the zip line, since the water under that is deeper. The family raft ride is a bit better, and you don't have to carry the raft up the stairs at BB. The wave pool at TL is great for older kids and adults, not so great for smaller kids. My kids always hated it until they were tall enough, and good enough swimmers, to get out into deeper water. If they stayed in shallow water they got knocked down by adults, who who knocked over by the waves. The bottom of the pool is rough and they got some nasty scrapes and bruises when they hit the bottom. They do have a kid's area at TL, but my kids all decided it was "for babies" by the time they were 4.

Are the water parks worth going to? I will be at Disney World for 4 days and trying to decide about whether or not I should go to a water park or focus more on the parks (Magic Kingdom etc.).

My son felt the same way at 4 about TL's kid area, whereas BB's kid area still appealed to him at that age. He also liked BB ski patrol area. So really, at BB he had multiple kid areas to enjoy but at TL he has none. My vote is for BB all the way with kids age 4 and 6.

I am pretty sure the new ticket changes I read that if you purchase a one day water park ticket you can now hop between the 2 in the same day. Can anyone else confirm this? I know I read it but am not sure if I am reading it wrong.

Yes, that's correct. I just got an email from Disney that confirmed this info for 1-day water park tickets only (not applicable for the WPF&M option).

Overall, we prefer BB. We are NOT fans of the TL wave pool, the family raft ride sucks, and the slides are pretty lame. BUT, our favorite WP ride (anywhere) is Crushin Gusher & DD14 absolutely loves Shark Reef. So, for us a perfect TL day would be from 5-8 pm as the crowd thins out & we can do our favorites over & over & over!

BB on the other hand can keep us occupied all day. There IS a lot of stair climbing, but there are no disappointing rides in this park. :)

With only 4 days I would stick to the parks we are there 9 days and it's going to be tough sneaking the water parks in

When are you going? Keep in mind that they rotate water parks for rehab so depending on what time of year you go one may not be open. For example Blizzard Beach has been closed from Jan to mid March...next year would be Typhoons turn.

So it's looking like a mixed bag lol. We won't be spending the whole day there, just a half day on our check in day. I am going in September. So I guess we could wait and see what we are feeling like that day. Is there any websites that tell of the crowds for the water parks?

We personally enjoyed Typhoon Lagoon when our kids were that age. It is much more relaxed.

If you're going to be buying a single day water park ticket instead of adding the WPF&M option to your ticket to only spend half a day at the park, you might just want to consider spending that time at the resort pool instead. Are you staying at a resort with a slide and/or splash area?
