Hi!

We're trying to decide which water park to visit next week, and would appreciate any opinions or information as to which has the most to be enjoyed by kids ages 3 to 5.

Thx!

Scott,

Our kids 9,11 actually like both, slight difference in age, when they were younger they liked Blizzard Beach with it's dedicated little kids section. Typhoon Lagoon to me is for older kids, with more action type slides and the wave pool, where as Blizzard Beach offers a dedicated kids area well monitored with personnel. Hope that this helps.

jtbdas - Wow - that is interesting!

I would have thought TL was better for little ones. Now I am going to plan on going to both water parks.

Thanks for the info.

When we go my little ones will be 3 and 5. I've heard that both are great but that TL is a little more geared to that age, but then another had said that his little ones were so used to water parks that they thought TL wasn't as fun as BB. Guess it all just depends :)

We're going to aim for TL because it's suppose to have a lot more shade, and this pale blonde momma needs PLENTY of shade :)

When my DDs were 4 and 5, we spent the afternoon at BB and they loved it. There is a really nice kiddy section that even has a mini(really mini) water slide.

here's a copy of a comparrison I did a couple of months ago. My kdis certainly love BB and hate TL.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Skip TL ... the place is boring, boring, boring Zzzzzzzzz.......
The kids areas in BB are great and very tame. One is for preteens/young teens, the other for the younger kids. then there are several family slides that everyone in the family can do.

just to compare to see which has more tame rides. I've listed the tame and slightly agressive slides together, with an explination of the slightly agressive ones. Agressive slides are listed at the end

bold= slightly agressive

Blizzard Beach....

Melt A way Bay (wave pool)
Cross Crountry Creek (lazy river)
Slush Gusher (48in+)
Teamboat springs
Toboggan racers
Snow stormers
Runoff rapids
Downhill double dipper (48in+, 25 miles per hour)
Ski patrol camp (contains at least 4 slides/activities)
Tikes Peak, several slides and a play area

and one very agressive slide ... summit plummet

Typhoon Lagoon ....
Surf Pool ( wave pool)
Castaway Creek (lazy river)
Gang Plank falls
Keelhaul falls
Mayday falls
Storm sliders (30+miles per hour )
Shark reef (must be a good swimmer, and be able to snorkel across constantly moving without kicking)
Ketchakiddee creek ... several small childrens activities (bored my DD silly at 2 1/2)

one very agressive slide ... humunga Kowabunga (30+ miles per hour, 48+ in to ride)

Thanks for the comparison...Does seem like Typhoon Lagoon is more tame, from your comparison.

Well ... over all TL is more tame, but BB is larger so it actually has more tame slides than TL does.

My 2.5y.o. really didn't like Typhoon Lagoon. She loved Blizzard Beach, though! I thought that TL was laid out poorly in that the kids section was all the way in the back whereas at BB, the kids section was close by (this makes a big difference to a little person). Overall, I think that BB is a better choice for the little ones.

We just got back yesterday from an all waterparks trip. My DS is now 8, and we just loved TL. (It was beautiful, shady, etc.) That said, when he was smaller, we loved BB. Yes, there are some wild slides at BB. (He still is not interested in Summit Plummet or Slush Gusher.) But there are two kids areas at BB (Tike's Peak for little ones and Ski Patrol Training Camp for the slightly more adventurous). After just being in the surf pool at TL, I can tell you that I would not take a little one in that wave pool. The surf waves are HUGE. So, the wave pool at BB is more appropriate for children your kids' ages, too. The lazy river is about the same at both parks. So, I think BB is probably better for kids 3-5.

Hope that helps!
Julie

My vote is definitely Blizzard Beach. My DD was a few months from being 3 the first time we went and she LOVED it. The kiddie area was the best!
