Hey everybody!
This is my very post on this site! Long time reader first time writer. I'm just curious as to which VGC owners will be braving the phones with me on June 7th. Does anyone have any specific dates in mind or are most of you gonna wait and take your trips in 2010? I'm gonna try to book a studio opening night and GV for two nights in Feb. Good luck to everyone trying and happy hunting!!!!

I'll be on the phone with you. I will be trying for a studio opening day also. Along with a one bedroom Dec 23-25 and a studio NYE. I don't really have anything planned for 2010 yet. I'll have to figure out those dates before the 7th.

I won't be on them the 7th, but I will the 11th, as hope to go during Food and Wine next time and that would be 11 months out. Luckily it's still in our window of booking before other DVCers can book.
Good luck to you all!

I will be on the phones on the 7th. Making reservations for NYE, and birthday trips in Jan & Feb.

We will be calling on June 7th for a February 2010 studio reservation. :yay:

We've got to decide which dates we want to reserve our 1BR. We've narrowed it down to three choices... we could go for four nights in either October or December to enjoy the reasonable point costs at that time of year and lower crowds... OR we could go on our daughter's 9th birthday which is January 2nd (we'd check-in on NY day and stay three nights, leaving the 4th).

The New Year's trip would cost considerably more points, and would give us one less night to stay, but our poor daughter never gets any fuss over her January 2nd birthday. We've already decided that if we don't use that day, then we'll hire a magician or something to make her birthday at home a little more special for a change.... Parental guilt is a powerful force! ;)

I probably will be. Not 100% sure what we'll be trying for yet. Probably a March '10 trip for our anniversary, and an early December trip.

So the phone lines open at 5:30 AM (our time) because they're in FL? And which exactly is the opening day? Sorry, I know I've read it on here before.

I'll be reserving Easter week... I thought they opened at 9am EST? That would be 6Am PST.. Am I wrong?

I will- I'm trying for a studio or 1BR for Sept 23 (1st night). We were already going to be staying the 24-26 in the hotel using the 3 night stay that we got at the Grand Firsts event at Disneyland back in March. Then when the opening date got changed, I figured I may as well see if we could start the vacation one day earlier, to be there opening day.

I'll be right there with you...trying for a 2 bdrm for mid Oct. We're still trying to nail down the exact dates. We'll be taking our DGS, 2 nieces and 1 newphew to the Trick or Treat Party.

10/7 - 10/10/09 or
10/14 - 10/17/09

Just love getting up at 6AM to make the phone call on a Sunday!

We'll be on the phone to book 4 nights in a 1BR sometime at the end of April '10. Haven't decided exactly which week, needs to be after the spring break craziness but before our APs expire May 3...
I was going to book Dec but my kids had so much fun at the GC Pool a few weeks ago that I decided to stay at the villas in April when it's warmer and possibly stay at offsite if we decide to go down for a few nights in Dec...

We saw the villas when we were down there and they were gorgeous. Can't wait for the extra space!

We'll be there too. We are looking for a 2 bedroom for a week in Jan - as you can see we have already posted a countdown - I am trying to be optimistic. I think we have a good chance at getting something in January, infact I really think we all have a good chance of getting our dates on the
7th because there is still such a big chunk of points to be sold and the fact that we get two weeks ahead of the others won't hurt either. Good luck to everyone and can't wait to see what everyone gets.:woohoo:

PP brought up a good point, that made me think. She said that she thought she would be able to make her reservation, because not all the points are sold yet. But doesn't that mean that all the rooms won't be in inventory yet as well? So there would be less than 48 rooms available for reservations.

Is that common practice to not put all the rooms into inventory??? My guide told me that not even 50% of the points had been sold yet. That would be a bummer if they did not open all the rooms to reservations. With all the other DVC members making ressies 2 weeks after us I would think they would all be made available. I do think a few dates will be harder to get, such as opening day, Christmas & Thanksgiving, but I am hopeful it won't be impossible. Most of the buyers so far seem to have purchased smaller contracts, maybe because they are add-ons, in fact it sure seems like most have only bought about 100-200 points, and at VGC that doesn't get you many days (atleast in a two bedroom) so then the 48 rooms, which are 2 bedroom lockoffs should be split into 96 onebedroom and studios. (I think??) This is just my opinion of how it might be, I surely have nothing to base my views on since I am so new to DVC and have not personally seen the rooms. I do think I remember reading that most of the rooms were lockoffs though. I guess we will all be finding out within the next week or two. It will be interesting to say the least.;)

I don't recall reading this in my papers (though it could have been in there somewhere), but I have seen more experienced DVC members post that this is the way it's done. With only room for about 60-70 DVC families per night, I hope they put the whole inventory to work on day one somehow, even if some of it is for cash reservations.

I believe the paperwork did describe the property as about half two-bedrooms and the other half "lock-offs" (meaning a one bedroom and a studio, that can be used separately or as additional 2BRs) + 2 grand villas. That means there could be at most about 74 families on property, if at 100% occupancy and with all lock-off units rented individually. Not sure I have the totals exact, but that's close. With the size of DVC membership now in the hundreds of thousands (if my memory serves), and with this being the only DL DVC resort, it seems unimaginable to me that there will ever be a room available without home resort priority. Why they put the smallest DVC resort in the highest demand location I cannot say, but I'm glad to have my puny 125 points at least. ;)

There are only 48 rooms in the entire building. Don't forget that there are two grand villas also. The remaining rooms are split in half between 2br lockoffs
and dedicated 2brs. That means that there are a very limited number of studios and 1brs. I believe all the rooms will able to be used for reservations come opening day. Add to the fact that they will also start to take reservations for the, I believe, 200 other regular guest cash rooms. That's why I think the whole building will be ready for ressies when the time comes. I could however be wrong about it though. Maybe I'll try calling MS now before I keep thinking about it all day....

No, my understanding from previous new resort posts is that they can only open up declared villas to DVC members. So for example, if they've only declared 1/2 of the rooms, then 1/2 will be available for booking on June 1 and the other are owned by the developer to do as they wish. They can either hold on to them, give out as developer points (which they are no doing) or sell as cash ressies. I don't believe all the rooms have been declared, but since we have limited info in CA, I don't know for sure. As more are declared, they will be available for booking or to fill wait lists.
