Can you buy One Time Use Points for a waitlist?

I'd like to add a night to a future stay that I have booked, but the night I want is not currently available. Since it's just one night over 7 months away, there's a decent chance it will become available (especially once the 7 month window hits and people start moving their reservations around). I want to use One Time Use Points to book it though. Is it possible to put in a waitlist request for this which will buy the OTUPs if it becomes available? Or do I need to stalk the system, then call member services to book as soon as it opens up?

The tricky thing is that I only want to buy the OTUPs if this night is available. Otherwise, the OTUPs aren't really worth it to me. I'm guessing this isn't possible, but I thought someone here might know the answer.

On a slightly related note, does anyone know how the timing of bonus OTUPs work with Member Magic Beyond? The terms state that you can get BOGO OTUPs once per MMB membership (which is for a calendar year), but there's also a restriction to buying OTUPs once per Use Year. So if I have a December UY, and I bought MMB last year and used the benefit to buy OTUPs in November for a stay in mid 2026, when would I be eligible to buy more BOGO OTUPs? I assume I would have to buy MMB for calendar 2026, then book a stay during my 2026 UY (after Dec 1) to use the BOGO benefit.

It feels like with a December UY, there's a very narrow window to take full advantage of MMB. Just wondering if anyone has any info or tips on this.

The MMB timing is based on when you book, the 24 point limit is based on your use year. So you're eligible to book BOGO OTUP as a member during 2026, and you can book them for a stay starting on December 1, 2026, your next Use Year.

On May 1, 2026, go book a fake reservation for December 1, 2026. Use your Calendar Year 2026 MMB benefit to buy 24 BOGO OTUP into your December 2026 Use Year. Then immediately cancel the reservation. You'll have until November 30, 2027 to use those points.

I would have literally paid extra money for a January use year if they existed, just to avoid all of the mental gymnastics that Dec UY requires. "Okay so this calendar year is really last year's Use Year, and then I borrow from this year which is really next year, carry the 1..."

I definitely feel this. I bought direct in September, so getting a December UY gave me one extra year's worth of points for free, without even having to pay dues on them. It was definitely worth the extra hassle (and having 2 UYs). But it's still a hassle.

I picked March (selling off non-March), so I'd always know Halloween was my cutoff for booking the coming holidays, or banking. People who say keeping it all straight (especially multiple use years ?!?) must have lots of brain cells and spreadsheets to spare!!

First, just a reminder you cannot use OTU points until 7 or less months out, and cannot waitlist a non home resort until that same 7 months timeframe. Once booked, I call and ask them to make sure my OTU points are allocated to the proper non 11 month priority reservation.

If you have OTU points in your account and regular points, you have to contact MS to have them put that note on your account to use them and not your own.
