Which Value?

We are planning a trip for this upcoming June to celebrate my daughter’s graduation from high school. We have been to Disney many times- but always big family trips (my parents, brothers and whole family). This trip is just my husband and I and our two kids- ages 16 and 18. We usually stay at Port Orleans French Quarter (our favorite) or Riverside. This trip we are going value. We’ve never stayed in a value before.

Which one is your favorite or why? From the research I’ve done on them- I think that Movies would be our favorite but I also see that it is generally not included in the discounts at all or gets a smaller discount than others- so that would be out. We need the best price possible.
From what I can tell; Movies, Sports, and Pop Century generally get the best discounts. So... of these, which would you choose and why?

TIA!

I've stayed at Music, Pop and Sports. Haven't stayed in Pop in a few years- but I have stayed there 5 times. I think Pop is significantly bigger than the all stars (or at least it seems like it to me) and it can be a long walk to the rooms. You are close to Art of Animation though and can walk over which is fun.

Between Music and Sports I preferred music. Mainly because of the layout. We were in the furthest building and it was a short walk. The all stars are all next to each other and have a little variation between the menu's so sometimes we would go to a different one for lunch instead to get something different.

At the end of the day Pop usually is a little bit more expensive than the All Stars- and I don't think you're really getting more for your buck. I think you might get a further walk to the food court area instead.

Thanks! I am looking at all 3 now and see that Pop is significantly larger it appears. As of now- I’m going with Music. The kids had their hearts set on Movies, but we’ll see what the difference is when the discounts come out.

Music and Sports are consistantly the cheapest. I prefer Music but Sports is also nice. Movies runs a little more but it does have distinct theming. The Values all have the same rooms so really price and theme aside they are interchangeable. (Music does have Family Suites but they would run you as much as POFQ)

All Stars typically have dedicated buses but can share during the slow afternoons. Order of pick up is Sports, Music, Movies.

I found POP to be very crowded and long lines at the bus and the food court is very chaotic due to the large capacity of the resort.

But don't forget that down sizing to Value means you'll be doing Double beds instead of Queens, one sink instead of two, and no coffee pot.

Have fun!

Thanks so much! Very helpful and informative! I’ve been looking up the differences between value and moderate- the main thing that will be a big difference for us is not having the two sinks...... 18 yr old daughter and I.... but we can definitely figure that one out!! lol

I had heard the exact same about Pop from a friend who stayed there- so I have marked that one completely off the list now :)

Thank you for the help! We are excited!!

We've stayed at all but Music. My favorite has been Movies but hubby and I stayed at Sports last year and were pleasantly surprised. So we stayed there this year with the kids. All have great theming, which is why we keep going back to the values, lol. Not to mention you can't beat the price. :) Good luck deciding!

My wife and I stay have stayed at Music every year since 2009. We love it mostly because of the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Here is a little bit of info to help you with your decision. Music has 1604 rooms. Movies and Sports has 1920. Pop has 2880 and AoA has 1984. If these resorts are full and each room holds two people, that makes 632 less people between Music and Sports or Movies, 760 less than AoA and a whopping 2552 less than Pop. This makes for less people in the pool, the bus lines, the restaurant, gift shop, etc. Oh, by the way, you may hear peple talking about the all stars having to share buses. This only happens during the low times of the day like the middle of the afternoon when you may find 2 or 3 perople sitting on the bus. Take a look at my picture, that's me with the girls from the Music gift shop.

Yes, I noticed the size difference of the resorts. That does give Music more of an edge for me- especially with only one bus stop. My kids seem to be stuck on movies- we’ll see what the price difference is (if any) when those discounts come out.

Now that I look deeper, the information thread on Music here and the description on Allears.net both list Music as having 1920 rooms- the same as Movies. Is this accurate or is it less rooms?

It is less rooms. Music converted many rooms into family suites which is how they dropped from 1920 to their current 1604.

ohhh ok- that makes sense! I knew I had read somewhere there were less rooms as well but couldn’t figure it out since that hasn’t been updated on this site and allears.net.
Thanks!
