Which Value Resort?

We've stayed at Pop Century before (2006) and loved it, but are thinking of trying All Stars Music next time round.

Which resort is nicer can anyone advise please? Is one nearer to the parks than the other?

I've read some mixed reviews for the All Astars, so not sure whether to just go for Pop again.

Any advice would be great. Thanks :)

Definitely stay at the Pop Century. After staying at the All-Star Music twice, we decided to try the Pop Century last year and we loved it. We had no problems with transportation while we were there. The buses came regularly and we never had a problem with there not being enough room, which we had happen on more than one occasion with the buses to and from the All-Star Music. And we thought the food court was better at the Pop Century as well.

We're staying at the Pop Century again at the end of May/ beginning of June! Maybe we'll see you there!

We stayed at All Star Music once, and it was fine...but once we stayed at Pop, we were hooked. The bus ride made all the difference...just one stop, as opposed to stopping at all 3 All Star's. We don't spend a lot of time at the resort itself, but the food court was fine for breakfast or a late dinner/snack.

Going back in January!!

We had the opposite experience. While we have loved EVERY one of our stays on property (CBR, CSR, POP, ASsports, ASmo), our least-favorite stay was at Pop Century. If you've never stayed there, it is MUCH louder than the All-Stars. The walls are thinner, and there are more people around. We were able to hear people in the room next door all night, and we could hear people walking by our room all night, along with kids yelling and playing. We've never heard noise like that at any other Disney property.

Other than the noise, though, it is a wonderful place to stay. Our next visit will be back at All Star Movies, with our BIG vacation plans for next summer to stay at Port Orleans.

Good luck, and enjoy your stay. No matter which one you choose, you'll have a wonderful vacation.

This was discussed on another thread, probably about a week ago.

The bathroom vents at POP connect up to 16 rooms! :scared1: Since Disney went all non-smoking, some people have noticed the smell of smoke in their room and/or bathroom. The only "solution" is to leave your own bathroom door closed. This apparently, just concentrates the smell.

This also explains why there are more noise complaints about POP than the All Stars.

I don't know what Disney can do to fix this. Or, when it will be fixed. So, right now, I'd choose ASMu over POP.

Perhaps it explains some of the noise, but most of what we heard was outside of our room (running up and down the corridors, folks talking while walking by, the sound of toilets flushing in other rooms, kids out by the pools yelling at Midnight).

Don't get me wrong, I think POP is a wonderful resort, and would stay there over "off-property" any day of the week! I just think it is a little noisier than the other values.

I've never been to all star music, but we went to Pop in 2005 and LOVED every minute of it.

I'll be at All Star Sports in January so will be able to review that afterwards.

I'd take staying on property over off site, but that's just me!

Good Question!

I was thinking of staying at All Star Music (new king beds, but they are booked) now I am trying to decide between Pop abd All Star Movies!!

I've stayed at All Star Sports, Movies and Pop. Movies is by far my favorite. I loved the newness of Pop, but it seemed much noisier than Movies to me.

I had better luck with the buses at the All Stars over POP. The buses can be crowded but in my experience they run more frequently at the All Stars. I waited an hour on two separate occasions this past summer at POP.
I did not notice noise problems at any of the resorts I have stayed at.

After 2 stays at POP - we're switching to ASMu in January. Pop was just too noisy & unruley for us in September. Kids running up & down the halls late at night with no supervision, doors constantly slamming because they flipped the locks out so that they didn't have to use key cards, etc. Just alot of inconsiderate people overall. Also we had an issue with paying for a preferred room & not classifying the one were were given as preferred by any means but Disney did consider it preferred. We just decided overall that we wanted a much quieter resort & decided to go back to ASMu for another try! :goodvibes

Good Question!

We have stayed at both. All Star Movies in Feb/Mar , Pop the last 10 days of September. Personally I much preferred All Star Movies for several reasons.

-The bus service at Pop was horrible. I bet in a 10 day stay we got to sit on the bus 4 times. The lines were horrible to get on a bus leaving the parks. The lines almost always overflowed the waiting area. Mind you this was the end of September.
-I have heard many complaints about the All Star buses. All star buses did
occasionally drop off at all three resorts. But not very often and we were
able to get a seat.

-The food court at Pop was packed at all times of the day. Constantly had to wait in lines for everything. All Star Movies had a few busy times but not horrible.

-Pop and All Star Movies both have great recreational areas. Rooms were very similar.

-I did really enjoy the lake at Pop.

Personally I think Pop is just that much bigger than the All Star Resorts that everything is so much more crowded.

Great input!!

Is one resort better All Atar Movies or POP better for Two adults-no kids. I would really like a king sized bed but was told you can only request one!! Ony tips??

Thanks

We LOVE the Pop! The buses are to notch and the food court is fantastic. We're staying their again in May 08'. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it!!!!

From all of the research I've done, it seems that Movies would be better than POP for 2 adults, but the best would be Music.

I am trying to decide what Value we should stay at and everything I've read says Music is the calmest, least crowded, quietest.

Granted, we are choosing POP, due to DD8 and the theme, but, if it was just DH & I going, I'd definitely choose Music (or Movies if you're not interested in Music). But, another plug for Music for 2 adults, it was just renovated! :cheer2:

We've stayed at all the values...many times. Most recently, we visited Sports in July. We had a refurbed room, and it was great! Pop used to be our favorite; but, during the past couple of visits, the rooms we've had have been pretty worn, the resort (and thus the buses) crowded, and the staff less attentive than in the past. Typically, we stay at the values when there are no good AP rates to be had elsewhere. Thus, they are pretty busy. Because of this, we've been fortunate enough to NOT have to share buses with the other All Stars when going to the parks. Also, I'd have to agree with the above poster. We've always found Music to be the quietest of the Values.

Prefer Pop
- awesome food court
- Not as many kids
- we can relate to theme better

But all depends on how many high school tour groups going when you are. And everyone has their own opinion.

Have fun

We're switching to ASMu - had always been a POP person until this past September. After that trip I was determined to find somewhere much quieter. While I do enjoy the food court and the buses there, the preferred room situation, and unruley guests put an end to us staying at POP for awhile. Plus it was packed to the max!!! I've never seen it so busy. So with the AP rates as low as they are for January, we're switching back to ASMu to give it another try, especially since it's been refurbished. POP is beginning to look very run down and needs a bit of rehab all over. :rolleyes1

DH and I have stayed at the Values probably 5 times a year for the past few years, so we've stayed at them all several times. We used to love POP, but it's become way too smoky for us. If you smoke, go to POP. Otherwise, Music is our favorite, Movies our second favorite, Sports our third favroite (smaller food court) and POP our least favorite.

:thumbsup2 A BIG thumbs up for the All Star Movies (ASMo)! we've tried them all and happily settled some years ago in the Mighty Ducks section. It has it's own pool, laundry and locker rooms and is quieter than the main pool area, which is usually where all the families seem to congregate (Toy Story, Fantasia, Dalmation sections). From our location we can walk over to the ASMu and catch their buses if we want. We love the value, the atmosphere, and eveything about it. Bus schedules haven't been an issue for years either. It seems like the Values get quicker service from MK and MGM than do some of the others. June 08 Here We Come!:surfweb: popcorn:: :cool2: princess:
