We are planning a trip for next year with our family of 11. We can only afford to stay in the values. Which one is best? Crowds? Noise level? Buses?
Thanks!

My favorite is Pop followed by the Movies. I don't take the buses anymore, so I can't help you there. Its much faster by car for us.

Crowds and noise should be the same unless you go during an event like Pop Warner football/cheerleading championships.

I have stayed at all but AS Sports. I loved Pop Century, and I would probably stay there again.

We went to Pop in May of '04 and the buses were great, never seemed crowded (except maybe at the food court during certain times) and if you get a good location it can be quiet. We had a room on the 3rd floor of the 50's building (right in front of the pool) and we were never bothered by noise. The pool was usually very quiet, with little to no people in it. I would imagine however that staying in the 70s (in front of the Hippy Dippy pool) you would find much more noise. The icons are so much fun!

The All Star resorts are fun, but the buses are a big pain. The three resorts share the same bus and during regualr or peak season it can be a problem. All Star Movies is very cute. I stayed in the Toy Story Section and I lived it. The resort was great and if it wasn't for the buses I would love to stay here again. I also stayed at Music, however I do not remember much about it (I was 9). I loved the theming.

We love Sports one big reason is that it is the first bus stop both on pick up and drop off. We have our car with us but take the bus. We like the Disney transportation.:thumbsup2

We love POP! The busses work out much better at POP than at the All-Stars, and that's the main reason we like it the best. Also, it is closer to EPCOT and MGM than All-Stars, which are closer to BB and AK. I find that the busses come more often for POP than the others, but maybe that's just good luck? :yay:

we did like ASM very much but i really loved styaing at POP. maybe because it was a newer experience for us but i just fell in love with this place. the theming just made it work for me. just had a ball seeing all of the memoriabillia and tlaking sbout it with my son

honestly both value resorts are great

Come October, I will have stayed at Pop TEN times. I adore it! I have never run across any problems whatsoever - you'll have a magical time!

All Star Music is my Fav.

DH and I stayed in one of the newly reburished rooms last September.
They were fresly painted, had new furturiture, larger TV's ,new carpet and new bedding.

I love the fact that the new rooms have a privacy curtain by the vanily that can be used for a dressing area just like the mods have!

All Star Music is undergoing a refurbishment of all of the rooms and is slated to be completed by June 2007.

The Calypso and Jazz buildings are completed and the last I heard they are working on the Broadway Buildings.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

We love the All Star Movies. Had great service and food there.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

The All Star Music is ok, but not great.

Pop was one of the worst resorts we have ever stayed at in WDW. Very poor service (especially from housekeeping) :headache:  and the food was nasty. We were very disappointed and won't stay here again.:sad2:

I never found the buses to a problem at All Star Music since most of time each resort had its own bus going to the parks.

Just an FYI

There is going to be a new GPS dynamic bus routing which should be working by this fall.
This should help make the buses much more efficient to and from any of the resorts.

From this thread:

....
Regardless.. this will all be changing with the new GPS dynamic bus routing. No bus will be 'dedicated' to anything. They'll all be routed and scheduled dynamically based on need at that exact point in time.

That new bus routing system is due to be implemented in phases this year. Most of it should be in place by the fall.

Basically it's a GPS system that will track all buses (and number of guests aboard) at all times.. in coordination with a computerized routing and scheduling system that works 'on the fly'.

.....Crowds? Noise level? Buses?
Thanks!

I stay at the values quite often and have never had an issue with noise.

The noise issues come with :

1. The main pool is located very close to some of the value rooms.

The themed pools at the mods and deluxes are set away from the rooms.

Tip: Ask for a room facing away or located a ways from the main pool.

2. Turbo toilets

The Values are newer and have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

3. Connecting rooms

About 50% of the value rooms have connecting doors.

Noise will travel under the connecting doors in a room.

Tip: If you have noisy neighbors open your connecting door and place a rolled up bath towel on the floor between then close and lock your connecting door.

Some guests have found that using a fan or a white noise machigan helps them sleep.

These tips should help you get a restful sleep wherever you choose to stay.

Have fun at Disney!

Another vote for POP. They have their own bus system, and the atomosphere of the resort is so much fun.

I love All Star Movies. It is the by far the best themed value resort, IMO. Pool is central to everything. Food court is great and store is located away from the food court which isn't the case at POP. This was sort of an issue with my dd.

We are going in August, October and March to All Star Movies, so that resort gets my vote.

If you do stay at any of the All Star Resorts, we have free fridge, coffeemaker, electric kettle and toaster swap going on and is available for January 2008.

This is the link if you decide to book there.

we have stayed at all the AS, plus POP one time. The first time we stayed at POP, the ran out of ice cream bars, didn't have enough towels and our rooms were never attended to until after 5 pm (we usually come back between 2-4 for a nap). We are trying it again this time, hopefully it is better. But truth of the matter is, you are really not in your room all that much and it is a great. We took a family of 10 there one summer and stayed at the ASSP and had an awesome time. We had rooms all right next to each other on the floor and never had a problem all getting on the same bus. I would recommend any of them. The Movies is probably my favorite because it is the most disney themed value resort in my opinion because it is all about the movies from disney.

PM me if you have any more questions!

We are trying ASMU this year since all of the rooms have been remodled. Went to movies last year and stayed in the Toy Story section and loved it. We also stayed at ASSP in 2002 and enjoyed that too. We have never had a bus problem as most of the time during busy hours each resort has their own bus. I was also at POP in 2004. It was nice, but a little too big for my taste and I didn't like the theming as much.
